Die ehemalige Bundesaußenministerin Annalena Baerbock ist am Montag während ihrer Vorlesung an der Universität Uppsala in Schweden von pro-palästinensischen Aktivisten mehrfach unterbrochen worden. „Wessen Demokratie verteidigen Sie? Für wessen Freiheit stehen Sie eigentlich ein – nur für die der Israelis?“, riefen die Aktivisten laut Aufnahmen, die inzwischen in sozialen Medien kursieren.
Die Protestler warfen Baerbock vor, in ihrer früheren Rolle als Außenministerin den israelischen Vernichtungskrieg in Gaza gefördert zu haben. Dabei kritisierten sie auch die deutschen Waffenlieferungen an Israel und die anhaltenden israelischen Angriffe auf den Gazastreifen.
Baerbock, die von September 2025 bis September 2026 das Amt der Präsidentin der UN-Generalversammlung innehatte, wurde bei einer Veranstaltung in Uppsala mit der jährlichen Dag-Hammarskjöld-Medaille ausgezeichnet. Dag Hammarskjöld war UN-Generalsekretär und kam 1961 bei einem Flugzeugabsturz ums Leben, als er im Kongo-Konflikt vermittelte. Bis heute ist ungeklärt, was den Absturz der Maschine mit 16 Menschen an Bord verursacht hat.
