Practice is the time to build confidence. Consistently doing skills correctly in practice creates habits that build self-confidence. If players accept sloppy performances in practice, they are practicing failure. Confidence is built on doing a skill correctly again & again.

“We came up short. I think the beautiful part about it is everyone experiences different pains, everyone experiences different agonies of life, but you decide if you want to learn from it. You decide if you want that to be a teachable moment. I know I do.”

"It's called changing a limit. Parents today don't allow their kids to change their limits. They're worried about them failing instead of learning. But you learn through the experience of failure & success"

Phil Handy asked Kobe why he was such an a-hole.
Kobe’s response: “I see dudes walk in 10 mins before practice & leave right after. Why the f— am I gonna pass them the ball? I don’t respect their work ethic. I’m busting my ass & they don’t want to work.”

Have been talking about this a lot recently w/my psych classes and team:
“You can’t be what you can’t see”.
If you want to be great at something — go watch, be with/around, & learn from those who are already there. It matters.

Some people hate carrying the balls. The way I see it though, carrying a bucket is an honor of getting to play another day of lax. @kristencarr8 and I may be the two oldest on the field, but we’ll never be too old to carry the balls. #ItsNotAFreshmanThing #RWB
The professional satisfaction of catching up with alumni cannot be overstated. Had a blast seeing @UMW_Lax and @UMWLAX alumni at our Lacrosse Homecoming Alumni Game on Saturday. Then got to catch up with @BlueJaysMLAX alum @AdamMoorePLT (of @ProLacrosseTalk fame) last night.

Be an example of the type of character you want to see,
Don’t expect discipline, selflessness, commitment, compassion, courage, industriousness, respect, etc, if you do not model such values yourself.
Do as I say & not as I do won’t cut it anymore.
