The cost associated with keeping/firing him must be much different and complicated than this. Because it’s pretty simple to me based on this post.
In my role as co founder and managing partner of Draftline I speak with NIL and rev-share decision makers and NFL agents every day. I love this program, so here's a direct message to FSU leadership, boosters and fans. Bobby Bowden built a standard at Florida State: 14 straight top-five finishes, two national titles, and a program recruits grew up dreaming about. Every decision made in Tallahassee should protect that standard. Right now, leadership is lowering it. 10–21 since the 2023 ACC title. 14 straight losses away from Doak. And the reason we keep hearing for accepting it is the buyout. The actual numbers say we can't afford to keep Here's what the cost of losing: • ~$15M a year in added roster (suck tax) and staff spend (no one wants to coach with a dead man walking) • $7–8M a year in ticket revenue a winning season or new coach excitement brings back • Season tickets down 18% since 2023 • Booster donor base down 17% • 2027 recruiting class 43rd nationally, with zero offensive linemen • No permanent AD since September, and our CFO/Rev Share whiz kid just left for Iowa State That's $22M+ a year spent to not fire Norvell. And the upside is real. The ACC lets schools keep 100% of their playoff money. A deep CFP run plus a full Doak is worth $20–28M in a single season. The buyout is a one-time cost. Drift compounds: in recruiting, in the portal, in donor checks that don't renew. To leadership: make the decision now. Waiting costs more than it saves. To Stephen Ponder and @SeminoleBooster: Instead of worrying about what people are posting about you it’s time to line up the commitments now, so the buyout doesn't come out of the operating budget that funds our other 20 sports. To fans: renew, show up and stay loud. The next coach is selling this program to recruits the day he's hired. We've been here before, and Florida State always comes back. But it takes a decision not hiding. #Noles @PresMcCullough @Seminoles

That’s why you have to buckle your helmet correctly…UCF could’ve kicked the game winner

IF this were to somehow happen. I imagine schools like Texas, OSU, USC, etc. would also explore the independent route. They can easily secure 80m media deals individually.
Just for fun. This one’s for the college football nerds who enjoy the business side of things: I’ve always liked the idea of Miami in the B1G. But Joe Echevarria’s comments got me thinking: how powerful could Miami’s brand be as an independent, especially alongside a few other heavyweight programs? Enter the Independent Alliance: Miami, Notre Dame, Clemson and FSU, with Amazon buying the broadcast rights. Yes, I included FSU. But keeping one of the greatest rivalries in sports intact matters. And while Clemson brings the brand, I’m not convinced Dabo is the guy to lead them into something like this. The idea: independence across all sports, four school Sports Networks on Prime Video, and $75M annually per school to start, increasing 3% each year. Amazon funds the move, and the schools retain opportunities to earn CFP revenue under whatever terms they negotiate. That money supports the entire athletic department, including Olympic sports, while fans get football, men’s and women’s hoops, baseball, softball and more on Prime. The numbers are AI-assisted estimates built around hypothetical assumptions. And we all know AI = Almost Intelligent. Plenty of details to debate, especially scheduling, rights and playoff access. But four major brands, protected rivalries, independent schedules and Amazon’s resources? That’s an interesting starting point.

When you have schools that want to get in based on what they are spending as opposed to on field results….

We can acknowledge that FSU got robbed last night and still appreciate how hard those young men fought. Both things can be true. But emotion cannot replace evaluation. Four ACC wins since 2024 isn’t a bad stretch. It’s a systemic failure of the standard. This is Florida State. The conversation has to be bigger than one Saturday. At some point, you have to stop celebrating competitiveness and start demanding championship-level results again.

The talent advantage showed up in key moments. Toney made plays and once they inserted Frank Gore Jr it was a wrap.
My FSU thoughts on last night in Miami on @Cover3Podcast Bottom line: you played your A game, your rival played their C- game, and you lost because their C- is as good as your A because you suck at recruiting and developing players. Simple. Also hotseat thoughts.

FSU needs better DBs and more size along the DL.

Ak and 50 the same type of individual…
🚨 Akademiks says Jay-Z dropping an album basically EVERY YEAR made his run “look like dominance,” and argues his success allowed him to rewrite how people remember his career. “He was like NBA YoungBoy of back then.” Ak says Jay stacking No. 1 albums wasn’t the same as actually having the biggest rap album every year: “He just got a number one.” He argues Jay was CONSISTENT, but says 50 Cent had the type of commercial peak that represented real dominance. “50 is the definition of dominance.” “Jay-Z was never dominant. He was consistent, he was never dominant.”
