Today I had the special opportunity of sharing a dancing floor with my ma β₯οΈ at her ..our school.
The song which is in my local language was by 'student' demand...& I sure learnt some new dance moves from the teachers & learners alike.

Today I found myself musing about my mama: a retired teacher who 10 years after retirement still wakes up at 430 am everyday to prepare & go to school.

I started my PhD in 2014...completed in 2019...& within that same period got a postgraduate certificate in education, a MRES in sociology & policy planning. Numerous conferences, consultancies & full time job in my last year.

And yet coz of our internal wiring it's easy to be taken for granted over and over again .
The easiest person to take for granted is usually the hardest to replace. Why?
Because they made loyalty look normal. Because they made consistency look normal. Because they made effort look normal
So normal that you start believing you can find that anywhere. That's why many people leave good partners NOT because they found better BUT because they assume that can be easily found
The person you get "bored" of is often the person you'll end up looking for in other people
If you have that person in your life, value them.

Interesting ....!
Teachers have phenomenal bladder control. Until they don't!
Hormonal shifts in perimenopause can make the tissue of the bladder less stretchy and less strong. We often need to go more often and sometimes urgently and we also can become more prone to bladder infections.
We're not the only ones of course. Childbirth can affect bladder control. Endometriosis can affect the bladder. Men with prostate issues can also need to go more often.
Schools can make adjustments that allow staff to go to the toilet when needed. It just needs the conversation to start!
