If North fans thought our lack of Thurs/Fri n games was bad, our lack of games at the home of footy is even worse.

Did the Nick Blakey trade feel like a big move? Well it should have.
We went back to 2000 and couldn't find a bigger haul for a single player at the trade table - either using points or PAV as we have done here.

In:

Pick 4 (ZD) gone for little
Young hybrid defender (JG) gone for little
and we still didn’t get a KPD.
Steelman for Brady:
-Blakey will be our B&F, transform our weakest line & attract FAs
-Have a bad hit rate w Top 10 picks, doesn’t matter if we lose two
-They wouldn’t help in the LDU/Larkey window anyway
-Didn’t need Murray, was a Clarko thing, just had to keep agents happy
North and the Swans have a long history of great trades:
Nick Blakey for 3 high draft picks

Clarke for Pick 61
Pick 59 for Powell

Re Nick Murray, I think North needs to ease back a bit.
He hasn’t played more than 9 AFL games in any of the past 3 seasons.
He has had very serious knee issues.
Pick 33 plus pick [10] is too much.
Let’s back in Whitlock, Thredgold, Dawson & Corr to support Comben.
Hawthorn has presented a few options to North Melbourne for Josh Goater, including a future third rounder.
Little doubt a deal gets done eventually but Roos have had a bit on.
Adelaide still adamant it wants 2026 picks for Nick Murray. North's first selection is now 33.

Nick Blakey is much older.
Smith wasn’t subject to a massive suspension and police investigations.
That’s the market price.
How does a Nick Blakey trade get done?
Each of the Roos, Saints and Suns has or is expected to hold a top-10 draft pick, but that alone surely isn’t enough to sway the Swans. 🤔
