Today is @BNash97 last day in the UO Sensors for Extreme Environments lab. Blake has done some amazing things in the lab and we are excited to see what he does next in graduate school in atmospheric science at UC Davis!
After having a discussion of very old rocks with Ron Frost at UW, I managed to briefly visit the Granite Mtns in Wyoming. The mountains emerge like islands from a sea of sediment.
Wonderful day visiting with the group at U. Wyoming Geology and Geophysics as part of their seminar series.
It has been a whirlwind of meetings, field trips and volcanic discussions in the past month in Oregon starting with the Cascades24 meeting in Bend and ending with the PDC workshop in Eugene last week!
We also had a wonderful visit from George Bergantz this week who discussed lower crustal exposures and granular fabrics.
I'm a bit late posting our group picture for the year -- but no time like the present, especially as three of the group are defending in the next three weeks, starting with @Fringe_Finder tomorrow!
Join us in Bend to discuss magmatism in the Cascades: blogs.uoregon.edu/cascades24…
Just completed the central Oregon leg of our @uoregon field volcanology class. A bit chilly, but lots of great geology!
