Speed map for Saturday's G1 Everest. Randwick 1200m Early Speed: Storm Boy looks the likely leader but if he does step slow he is at risk of being crossed by Growing Empire. I Am Me lands leader’s back. Bella Nipotina’s and Lady of Camelot’s gates look bad at first glance but with the lack of speed drawn directly underneath, they should be able to find cover if they don’t end up pressing right forward. Most of the runners with form settling further back have drawn next to a runner with a similar pattern, which should allow them to pair up easily. Strong tempo expected. Prediction: Still a lot to play out with how much rain Randwick receives on Friday. Looking for runners that are proven on that Soft 6-7 range. All 12 runners have won big races on Good surfaces if we end up there. Bella Nipotina is by far the most consistent horse in the field. She is in career best form and won the G1 Doomben 10 000 on a Soft 7. She is versatile enough to press forward from the wide gate and find cover. If the pattern of the day sees them getting to the wider lanes then the outside gate becomes a positive. Growing Empire is the x-factor. He was so brave going down in the shadows of the post in the Manikato when the fellow on speed runners faded. He could easily land 1 out 1 back. He brings better form than past 3yo winner Giga Kick did the year he won it in a much more even field. $100 CHALLENGE - WEEK 13 🐎 We hope on the last day of the Flemington carnival we can get some more of the team in the green. Too Darn Discreet & Cosmic Crusader seem to be the popular ones for the team today. Good luck punters, I’ll be trackside with my flippers #BP 🧨

The final nail in the coffin for the typical pocket whingers. She’s gone forward once in her career and was beaten in a Rockhampton maiden. Otherwise her settling pattern has been midfield or worse.

$100 CHALLENGE - WEEK 11 🐎 I’m feeling confident this week the team can make up for the last couple weeks. Feature is the Derby which looks to be the hardest one we’ve seen for quite some time. Bets everywhere & hopefully the punters strike back today #BP 🧨

Is Pat Cummins electing to bowl first the worst mistake an Australian captain has ever made at Cape Town?

$100 CHALLENGE - WEEK 10 🐎🧩 A Cox Plate like no other being at Flemington today in some unkind weather conditions. Differing opinions this week for the crew who found it hard in a non punters like last Saturday to find winners. Who’ve you got today? #BP 🧨

Crazy stuff! He’s gone 0.16s faster than when he set the 1200m Sha Tin record. The writing was on the wall the way Savvy Hallie and Blue Door, with only 51kg on her back, tailed off. IMO where Ka Ying Rising lost the race was the way he handled the turn. Seemed to take him half the straight to get back through the gears. Hard for people wanting to be critical of someone other than themself to blame the horse though. Great work Dave!
How's this for a stat regarding Ka Ying Rising on Saturday - taking people's benchmarks out of it and just looking at hist raw first 400m times in seconds from his last 5 x 1200m races in Hong Kong, versus Saturday. ✳️ His last 5 at Hong Kong first 400m [ 23.27, 24.16, 24.03, 23.85, 23.42] - all on Good or Good to Firm tracks. ✳️ On Saturday, they asked him to go 23.11 and he was still 1.7L off the lead at the 800m. This is on a genuine (worse side of a) Dead 4 track, but with a ~30kmh tailwind behind them early. I don't think Zac was ever getting to the front, despite what many of us made of it on the day using our eye!

No such thing as a certainty in racing! What a race! We all potted Gate 1 on Tuesday and that’s what won it for her.
