YOUR KID DOES NOT NEED 47 TOURNAMENTS. He needs somebody to teach him how to play baseball. How to take a secondary lead without staring at Coach. How to read a ball in the dirt. How to back up a base when the play has nothing to do with him. How to know where the next throw goes before the ball is hit. How to move a runner without acting like he just donated an at bat to charity. How to recognize when the pitcher has no feel for his breaking ball. How to understand why the shortstop moved three steps before the pitch. That stuff matters. But somewhere along the way, youth baseball got obsessed with PLAYING MORE BASEBALL instead of actually LEARNING BASEBALL. Friday night game. Three Saturday. Two Sunday. Championship rings. Pictures. Tournament MVP. Pack the car. Do it again next weekend. Meanwhile, half the dugout needs a coach yelling where to throw the baseball after it is already in somebody’s glove. That is backwards. Games are supposed to reveal what you learned. They are not supposed to replace learning. Give me fewer meaningless innings and more real practice. Teach bunt defense until nobody has to scream. Teach first and thirds. Teach cuts and relays. Teach runners to read dirt. Teach outfielders what base they are backing up. Teach hitters to watch the pitcher when they are not hitting. Then shut up on game day and let the boys PLAY. Because eventually they get older. The field gets bigger. The game gets faster. And nobody has time to yell instructions from the dugout anymore. That is when you find out who spent all those years playing baseball… and who actually learned how to BE A BASEBALL PLAYER. ⚾️ 3 LEFTS BASEBALL

YOU CAN LEARN A LOT ABOUT A BASEBALL PLAYER WHEN SOMEBODY ELSE GETS THE BIG HIT. Don’t watch the kid rounding the bases. WATCH THE DUGOUT. Who’s over the fence losing his mind? Who’s halfway to home plate before the ball even lands? Who’s screaming for the guy who took his spot in the lineup? And who’s sitting on the bench pissed off… because he wishes it was him? That right there? THAT’S CULTURE. Everybody’s a great teammate when they’re 3 for 4. Show me the kid who went hitless… lost his starting job… and is STILL the first dude out of the dugout when his teammate goes deep. THAT’S THE GUY I WANT. Because talent can make a lineup dangerous. But when 20 guys genuinely give a damn about the other 19? NOW YOU’VE GOT A BASEBALL TEAM. ⚾️ 3 LEFTS BASEBALL
