Sometimes the family court does do the right thing

A Father v A Mother [2025] EWFC 340 (B) (05 September 2025): Child arrangements. Judgment considering why the children had expressed a wish not to see their father. Found that their wishes were a result of the mother's alienating behaviour. bailii.org/ew/cases/EWFC/OJ/…
Good case applying the new guidelines on alienating behaviour.
MK v FJ & XY (Composite Hearing: Alienating Behaviours) [2025] EWFC 326 (B): Child arrangements. Findings of alienating behaviour made against mother. Ordered that child live with mother and have contact with father. Barring order made for 2 years. bailii.org/ew/cases/EWFC/OJ/…
This case shows why it's best not to use the word 'narcissist' in family court proceedings: the narcissist's use of the word against you reveals more about them than you ever could. Huge congratulations to @theDAsolicitor on such a successful outcome. bailii.org/ew/cases/EWFC/HCJ…

Why do people pay lawyers so much for such **** advice? Our adversarial legal system is wrong for family law but it's where we are so surely lawyers are paid to fight. Why won't they? The longer they keep advising clients to give in, the longer this dreadful culture will go on.
Former MP Kate Kniveton reveals she was advised the family court would “take a dim view” if she tried to prevent her abusive ex from seeing their child. A judge went on to make 14 findings, including rape, against former Tory minister Andrew Griffiths. 🧵

goodlawproject.org/crowdfund… I'm finding it hard to believe that we have to pay to get rid of the worst of our judges but if that's what it takes, I've made a donation.
Helpful case law for LiPs who are served late.
T v T & Ors (Disregard for Procedural Rules, Adjournment) [2025] EWFC 14 (B) (29 January 2025):
Judgment adjourning final hearing of financial remedies application due to the applicant's disregard for procedural rules in preparing for the hearing. bailii.org/ew/cases/EWFC/OJ/…
The really worrying thing here is that so many other judges would have done the same. And probably would again as nothing has changed.
Sara Sharif: Family Court Judges Named
Following Legal Appeal
Judge Alison Raeside relied on the social workers risk assessment of the case.
The MOST concerning thing is that Sharif Urfan had been accused of domestic violence by THREE exes & 2 children. The police had been called multiple times due to the victims being burned, bitten & bruised in a catalogue of cruelty dating back 16 years and they DIDN’T BELIEVE HE WAS A RISK.
He was a ticking time bomb 💣 🚩
When will serial abuser’s histories be joined up? This was preventable 💀💣
Judge Alison Raeside presided over most hearings across 6.5 years. Judge Peter Nathan & Judge Sally Williams had some involvement - they are both retired now.
Judge Alison Raeside was promoted to the Designated Family Judge for Surrey in 2019.

What was the point of the Domestic Abuse Act, and making the child a victim in their own right? Why would a mother put herself through a fact finding hearing when this is what happens when she wins? It did delay the overnights for a few months, does she think it was worth it?
TM v TF [2024] EWHC 2786 (Fam) (12 September 2024):
Application by mother for permission to appeal staying contact order made after earlier findings of serious domestic abuse by the father. Permission refused. bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/Fam…

Please donate & share to help me break new ground in family court, bring safety to my child. I’ve got a judge to step down after ordering unsafe child contact, and a new judge has agreed to re-open and re-hear my allegations of DV alongside CSA. This case could help many others stuck with unsafe arrangements. Thank you 🙏
This is an important case, the first we know of where a fact finding hearing has been reopened in private law proceedings. We hope it will help others who have unsafe orders. Please donate and share if you can @DrEmmaKatz @clairethrossell @CaronKipping

I’m working (pro-bono) with Rose on this important case, the first we know of where a fact finding hearing has been reopened in private law proceedings. We hope it will help others who weren't able to appeal at the time.

10 years on and things have improved a little since the Domestic Abuse Act and Re H-N. But still too many children are left at risk by too many professionals lacking understanding of domestic abuse and personality disorders.
