A DxE drone pilot is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration after CA's largest calf-raising operation, Grimmius Cattle Company, reported him for filming the conditions at their facility. @TheIntercept just reported on this news and the current push by factory farms to get FAA approval to ban drone flights over their operations.

The Federal Aviation Administration has proposed a new rule that would allow agriculture operations to request drones restrictions. @KennyTorrella reports on the impact this would have on public transparency, which often depends on drones. For example, the article describes horrific calf cruelty footage documented by DxE drone pilots at a calf ranch linked to the supposedly "humane" milk brand @CloverSonoma.

“The amount of footage that we’re getting now really makes it hard to deny that this is actually the industry standard practice,” Bernier said, adding that drone technology has been a game changer.

Every day they ignore documented animal cruelty, defenseless calves continue to suffer at Agresti Calf Ranch. This is urgent. These animals need justice and protection.

Normal people are really viscerally horrified by the sight of gestation crates, it's got me thinking about other factory farm standard practices where this principle ought to be applied

“Make Sure It’s a F***ing Felony": Here's what happened at yesterday's preliminary hearing in the Meyenberg Rescue Case #RightToRescue
Judge Trevino ruled there is enough evidence for the defendants to stand trial on felony grand theft, felony conspiracy, and misdemeanor trespass charges. All four defendants plan to plead not guilty at their arraignment on June 3rd. Their legal team — including local counsel and attorneys with the Animal Activist Legal Defense Project (@AALDP_DU) and Civil Liberties Defense Center — intend to argue that the rescuers were acting lawfully to protect animals from neglect and cruelty.

Calves Kicked, Violently Handled at @CloverSonoma Supplier, Drone Footage Reveals

BREAKING: New investigation of a Clover Sonoma supplier shows calves kicked in the face as their horn buds are painfully burned off.
Clover has long advertised the humane treatment of animals at their facilities, striving to even create the false impression that they don’t use factory farms at all. In reality, they’re linked to large factory operations like Double D Dairy and Agresti Calf Ranch that, as this investigation shows, are prone to resorting to especially cruel practices in favor of efficiency. Clover briefly suspended their business with Double D Dairy since our investigation, but have already reinstated them. These findings raise serious concerns about Clover’s entire supply chain and California’s dairy industry as a whole.
It’s time to protect animals and phase out factory farming altogether. Sign our open letter at FactoryFarmWatch.org if you agree.

BREAKING: The Court of Appeals just overturned Wayne Hsiung’s felony conviction for his role in rescuing 37 abused hens from a factory egg farm called Sunrise Farms. They also overturned his misdemeanor trespass conviction for his role in the rescue of 32 sick ducklings from Reichardt Duck Farm.
The Court ruled that Hsiung should have been allowed to argue that he believed his actions to be legal under the necessity defense. Further, the Court wrote that “Neither this court nor the California Supreme Court has ruled that the necessity defense applies exclusively to situations involving physical harm to a human,” validating that individuals could have the right to violate laws in order to rescue animals from extreme harm.
The Court did not overturn his misdemeanor trespass conviction for his actions at Sunrise Farms or make a clear ruling affirming that the necessity defense actively does apply to nonhuman animals. Consequently, Wayne will be appealing to the California Supreme Court on this issue.
Nevertheless, this is a major step forward towards establishing the Right to Rescue and positioning animals as persons under the law.

Four People Charged with Felony Grand Theft for Rescuing Sick Goats from Whole Foods-Supplying Goat Dairy
Press Release: docs.google.com/document/d/1…
BREAKING: Four animal rescuers have been charged with felony grand theft for rescuing Phoebe and Celia, two baby goats who were sick with respiratory infections on a Meyenberg goat dairy that supplies to Whole Foods.
An investigation in the spring of 2025 found that sick goats are denied adequate medical care, often either killed or left to slowly die. Reports to the Kings County District Attorney’s Office and other local law enforcement had led to no animal welfare enforcement actions.
When former ER Veterinary Technician Carla Cabral found Phoebe and Celia, emaciated and in respiratory distress, she knew they were at risk of ending up in Meyenberg’s ever-growing pile of dead mothers and babies.
Nearly a year later, the Kings County DA has decided to use its resources not to protect the goats still suffering from neglect and cruelty, but to prosecute the compassionate individuals who tried to stop it. The defendants are Carla, Sally, Joe and Taj.
We’re asking the Kings County District Attorney’s Office to drop the charges and prosecute the real criminal: Meyenberg. Sign the open letter now at RightToRescue.com
