Biodiversity Net Gain for small sites: 1. Start with biodiversity
'By looking at the biodiversity at the design stage, you can make the most of existing natural habitats and features present such as trees, hedgerows or grasslands'

#Biodiversity has truly dropped down the Global Agenda!
It's now at No. 15. Just before goals for 'Motherhood and Apple Pie' #BuildBackBiodiversity #COP15 #CBD
#BIODIVERSITY! Extreme CLIMATE events also destroy #Habitats and #Species #Ecology
#ClimateChange #ClimateCrisis #ClimateEmergency
Extreme weather events wreak havoc and claim lives globally.
Early warning systems are critical for adapting to the #ClimateCrisis & protecting lives and livelihoods from floods, heatwaves, storms, and other disasters. #EarlyWarningsForAll

FF @cebill_now for a 'Climate & Ecology Bill' in England!

If you want to go far, go together’.
And we must go further and faster, together.”—@_OliviaBlake

*The State of Nature report 2020* was produced by @wwf_uk and @OfficialZSL. There were #StateofNature reports published since 2013.
But who knows what's happening now? They have not been professionally collated. #biodiversity #sustainability

This new language of #EcosystemServices is really not that new. Since the 1970s there has been discussion of 'Environmental Economics'.
“The Economics of Biodiversity” also makes the same fundamental error. You can NOT enhance #biodiversity by merely putting a💲in front of it.
Perhaps it's unsurprising that a billionaire has no interest in structural and political change. But @BillGates's belief that he can save the planet with technologies alone, while dissing popular movements and systemic transformation, is as naive as it is arrogant.

#EcosystemServices ... what nature does for us 🤮
How to lose #wildlife sites, so nobody notices! This consultation on #Local #Wildlife #Sites (+ other Policies) is open now.
BHCC has reduced 110 #LWS selected in 2013 to 52 (see our tweet before this one)

In 2013 #Local #Wildlife #Sites were selected by local focus panels of Wildlife Groups and Naturalists. They can be seen on this map ⏬ 🗺️🌐
There were 110 chosen, #Eco21st has added six more.

UK Health Secretary, MP for Suffolk, wants to destroy England's #Natural #Capital. To make money! This is not #sustainable 💵 💵 💵 💸💸💸💸💸

Really pleased construction for #HS2 begins today.
HS2 is a crucial part of our #OneNation agenda & will turbo-charge our economy with 22,000 jobs in the coming years.

I this a suitable place to build 60 new houses? Adjacent to the South Downs National Park, on woodland and scrub which support a range of wildlife species. So much for #WildlifeCrisis in #Brighton!
