Exciting news: we've just launched a group testing platform for schools and companies. And, like everything we do, it's 100% free. If you know anyone who might want to test their class, their job applicants or their team, let them know about EF SET group testing.

Sorry we haven't posted in a while. The EF SET team is small (although we prefer "scrappy") and we're academics & developers, not social media gurus, but we haven't forgotten about you! We've just been crazy busy working on some features you're going to LOVE. Stay tuned!

What does it mean for professionals to reach a B1 level in English? CEFR B1 is characterized by the beginnings of argumentation. In the A levels, you're mainly limited to expressing facts ("I'm 40. They went to the movies on Saturday. She will be late." etc.).

When you move into the B levels, you learn to share your opinions and to justify them effectively. The threshold between A2 and B1 is an exciting place. A B1 level of English is not sufficient for many office jobs, but it's a major step up.

At a B1 level, you can give some input on projects and participate to a limited extent in meetings on subjects in your field of expertise. You're starting to build a professional level of English! #keeplearning

How can the EF SET be so short and remain accurate for all CEFR levels? The secret is multi-stage adaptive testing. Depending on how you're doing, the questions get harder or easier until we have the data we need to calculate your level.
