Wednesday night, Conor Gausselin took a no-hitter into the 6th inning. After walking the first batter, he retired 14 straight hitters. Since July 9, Conor has settled into a different level of consistency, pairing sharper command with greater efficiency and the ability to carry games deeper. Over 26.1 innings, he has posted a 1.03 ERA and 0.99 WHIP, while cutting his pitches per inning and steadily taking on a larger workload. Here’s Conor’s take on his recent success: “Having full command of both the 4-seam and sweeper is keeping hitters guessing. I’ve been better at not wasting pitches and keeping two-strike locations off the plate, but still in competitive spots to get swings. Better recovery and routine between games has been important, and I’ve needed that to be able to take on a bigger workload as a starter. Great defense from the Mammoths and pitch calling from Tommy in that span.” Since July 9, Conor has gained nearly 6° of throwing-arm total arc and 4° of internal rotation, but perhaps even more encouraging is how consistently he is maintaining it. His total-arc floor has risen from 121° to 132°, with nearly 9° more motion 1–2 days after throwing. As his workload has grown, his arm has responded by recovering with more motion, not less, while his fastball has reached 92.3 mph. Congratulations to Conor on his success — well-earned, and a great example of what can happen when preparation, recovery, and performance begin to align. @conorgausselin @uspbl @USPBLdevelop
