No, the point is that they are letting themselves get used by big oil for a greenwashing campaign. It erodes trust and brand equity. They could have launched a climate round with numerous other, more-value aligned organizations.

Because DNS names are not native to web3 / blockchain - they aren't decentralized, they aren't immutable, and they aren't censor resistant. If you're building anything in web3 using a DNS name, you're investing in something that is not in your hands. DNS = ruggable | .eth = not ruggable.

If you're hoping that ENS secures the .eth tld in DNS because you think your names will really take off in value because they'll finally work natively as websites, then why not just buy web2 domains and turn them into ENS names now? They already work natively as websites.
