maybe im too old for the current discourse, but whatever happened to writing fics simply for the love of the game? i came into fandom with the understanding that my work may not be well received or popular, but i do it bc i love the original media/characters/etc.

as fans, we're all bound by our love of that particular original work. we express it in different ways, but we HAVE to know our limits and responsibilities as both consumers and content creators. so readers, please be kind enough to support authors with a comment or kudos.

and authors, try to find inspiration for your writing that's not dependent on validation. because for me, i write for myself. even if it's not well known or popular, what matters is that I'm happy with that idea out in the world. for me, that's enough.

then whatever people choose to do with your work since it's easily accessible is out of your hands. i understand that it's unsettling to have that loss of control when it comes to your own creative process, but perhaps a gentle reminder to think of WHY you write fics at all.
