… dialogue and real consultation with the public. Confrontation slows reforms and delays the benefits of EU membership for Albanians. This is a national project, and it will go further only when it is built together. 🇪🇺🇦🇱 2/2

I presented the European Commission's 2026 Report on Albania to the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, with MPs Bora Muzhaqi and Tomor Alizoti. EU membership will touch the daily life of every Albanian, and much of that change will be written into law in this building. 1/2

Speed matters, and so does quality. Good laws need time for debate and for hearing the people they will affect, including civil society. Albania has a historic opportunity to join the EU. An open, constructive debate in its Assembly will help it get there. 🇪🇺🇦🇱 2/2

... put it today, real problems should not hide real progress, and real progress should not blind us to real problems. Reforms are not for Brussels. They are for Albanians. The EU stands with them on their way to joining the world's largest union of democracies. 🇪🇺🇦🇱 2/3

Met today with Mr Gazment Bardhi, DP parliamentary group leader, to discuss Albania's EU accession path. We had a good discussion on Parliament’s central role: passing reforms, aligning legislation with EU law and holding the executive to account. 1/2

My first visit outside Tirana to meet civil society took me to Elbasan, and I came back inspired. I met women who survived violence and decided to change their own story. Today they run their own businesses and are the breadwinners of their families. 1/3

Their courage is the strongest answer to violence. Behind them are organisations like World Vision and the Women's Forum Elbasan, which help women build skills, income and confidence, in Elbasan and beyond. When women are independent, families and communities are stronger. 2/3

Violence still affects one in two women in Albania, across every background, and many do not know where to turn. Services that change lives this way deserve steady local and national funding, not only donor support. Thank you for the work you do. 3/3

Fascinating to learn more about Albanian "tezgjah" art in Elbasan. Today I met a group of women artisans who work to preserve culture heritage. Using seized criminal assets to empower women and create business opportunities is a good example in Elbasan. 1/2
