The EU is committed with Syria’s Transition, with Peace, freedom and the Syrian citizens’ wellbeing. Let’s work together. 🇪🇺🇶🇦 🇸🇾🤝
On 29 September, HR/VP @kajakallas visited Syria, where she met with the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani.
The success of Syrian transition matters greatly to Europe. Syrians have waited too long for peace, freedom and a future.
The EU has lifted economic sanctions to support recovery and reconstruction and is providing €620 million for recovery, humanitarian needs and stronger institutions.
We have also mobilised around €18.85 million to clear mines and unexploded ordnance, so children can reach school safely and farmers can return to their fields.
Lasting recovery also needs security, rule of law and accountability. Families need answers. Victims need justice.
Europe is ready to support Syria’s inclusive and peaceful transition.

G7 Leaders' Statement on global energy security and market stability
“We condemn Iran's continued attacks against its regional neighbours and its disruption of international trade, energy security and the global economy. We call for the immediate and full restoration of navigational rights and principles in the Strait of Hormuz and express our determination to redouble our collective efforts to that end. We commend the United States for its efforts to ensure the free flow of commerce through the strait of Hormuz”.

Statement of the President of the European Commission. We stand in solidarity with Saudi Arabia and our Gulf partners.
Once again, the Iran-backed Houthis have targeted infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, including a refinery and airports.
These attacks keep destabilising the region, igniting further violence and undermining global energy security.
We stand in solidarity with Saudi Arabia and our Gulf partners.
Regional security will be at the heart of our discussions with the Gulf Cooperation Council later this month.

My thoughts are with the families of the victims.

Attacks on civilian infrastructure are unacceptable.

The Houthi attack on Riyadh’s international airport is an appalling act of terror. There can be no justification for indiscriminate attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The EU stands in solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We offer our deepest condolences to the families of those killed, and we wish the injured a swift recovery. I remain in close contact with @FaisalbinFarhan.
EU Foreign Ministers will discuss the escalating tensions in the region on Monday. Enhanced coordination between the EU’s Red Sea naval operation Aspides and the Saudi-led Multinational Maritime Defence Coalition is vital.

Very fruitful meeting this afternoon with the representatives of the chambers of commerce of the EU Member States in Doha. The cooperation with the EU private sector is key to boost the economic partnership with Qatar. We want to bring added value to the excellent work that the private sector is doing, in full synergy with the Member States.
