ALT Graphical abstract: Urbanization in India is increasing the demand for urban trees, but a lack of comprehensive data hinders effective management. To solve this, the Urban Trees of India (UTI) database was created, documenting 742 species across 380 urban areas. The database shows that most of these trees are native and evergreen, with the majority classified under “Least Concern” by the IUCN Red List.
