The fairies of Scotland, taken very seriously indeed. mflibra.com/products/1933-sc… Robert Kirk wrote The Secret Commonwealth in 1691 as a serious account of the fairy world he believed existed alongside our own. This scarce 1933 edition keeps Andrew Lang’s commentary, R. B. Cunninghame Graham’s introduction, D. Y. Cameron’s view of the Fairy Hill at Aberfoyle, and its original illustrated dust jacket. A fascinating meeting of folklore, belief and the old Scottish fairy tradition. #BookWithASoul #MFLIBRA #OwnAPieceOfHistory #TheSecretCommonwealth #RobertKirk #ScottishFolklore #FairyLore #AndrewLang #DustJacket #AntiquarianBooks #RareBooks #BookCollectors

The occult is a deep river. It flows below our obvious culture, sometimes surfacing to delight people who like a little understanding or think they can sell it to others. The truth is it flows regardless of those looking at it from the surface. It's an unstoppable current.

As we've just had the full moon closest to the autumn equinox, known in Hookland as the Corn Maiden Moon, it seems appropriate share some of the folklore of the Heading the Corn. #FolkloreSunday

Let us walk the woods as feral possibility space. Let us walk the woods in hope of strange sights, fantastical encounters. Stories we can tell to those we love as an intimate folklore of hope that wonder is still abroad. That we still have places of constant magic. – #DAKilroy

From tonight's Hookland talk on Re-enchantment as Resistance at Treadwell's. 'Folklore is often the wild frontier of belief, the place where wonder may still live. Here be Woodwoses, here be Harrowhounds, the ghosts which whisper wisdom.' #FolkloreThursday

We go to the woods to have our souls entangled. We go to the woods in hope of encountering wonder, wild magics. Some deep, cave-old part of us knows it as a sacred space just a we know it as a place of possible peril. The woods whisper to our souls. – #CLNolan

They call them resurrection gates, call them lychgates – from the old Saxon word for corpse. They are ghost thresholds. Haunted by the dead who passed through to burial. Haunted by the ringing of invisible corpse bells. In their shade we feel sense of perpetual wake. – Dr M. Benn

MOTHMAN MONDAY - Monday does seem an appropriate day to ponder Mothman, as many view Monday as an omen of "evil", maybe an exaggeration (lol), or at the very least it's unavoidable approach is felt w/ a sense of dread. These emotions are purportedly a hallmark of MOTHMAN #cryptid

59 years ago, two men pointed a camera at a riverbed in Northern California and may have captured the most compelling piece of cryptid evidence ever recorded. Nearly six decades on, no one has been able to prove it fake — or prove it real. We went through the whole case and reached our own verdict. Like to know your thoughts. 🌀 paranormalportaluk.com/post/…

SASQUATCH GIFTING ??? • Gifting can certainly be a "tool" for bigfoot communication, & many researchers swear by it! From apples & peanut butter, to coins & marbles... however, others caution the dangers associated w/ forming such an expectant relationship w/ a large creature!

FLATWOODS "Monster" FRIDAY - West Virginia has some incredible & culturally significant mysteries... The Flatwoods Monster ranks right up there! The "being" is said to have been floating off of the ground, emitting a noxious gas or "pungent mist" that made witnesses ill for days!
