Los hechos acontecieron la madrugada del lunes en la región de Vorónezh. El equipo viajaba de regreso a Moscú tras disputar un partido en Rostov del Don. Los primeros reportes indican que hubo un par de personas fallecidas y 17 heridos; parte del cuerpo médico del Lokomotiv asisitió a los afectados. El club completó el resto del trayecto por carretera.
