Saa'kokoto gathered folks at the Sun Circle on Nose Hill at sunrise (5:21 am) this morning to welcome the coming of summer. He shared that he asks for 4 things: wisdom, guidance, strength and patience. These teachings inspire us in our work with Edgemont students!

"If we begin to see ourselves as not just rooted in the ground, but also deeply connected to everything around us, everything changes, including how we feel, think, and behave.” For PD today we explored ways, students, staff & families can build strong connections to our land.

On Friday, Room 18 & 26 buddies looked deeply at our Edgemont land, inspired by the poetry of Leah Dorian. "Upon gracious land, We walk humbly. O'er hills of green prairie grass, We go softly. O'er sage covered hills, We walk proudly." We are learning from this place.

Today Ms. Briand is a guest speaker, working with all Grade 2's to share information about lobster fishing in Nova Scotia! We know how important it is to make authentic connections and it is a gift to have Kendra and her family take on this role. Ask a Grade 2 about lobsters!
