Great to see the role and value of #CitizenScience in helping to address water quality issues in UK rivers included in this report ⬇️
A ‘chemical cocktail’ of sewage, slurry and plastic polluting English rivers is putting public health and nature at risk. 📖Read our Water Quality in Rivers report, published today, at bit.ly/3fkCOJQ 🔍 #EACRivers #SaveOurRivers #CleanItUp #RiverPollution

Yesterday was the final (and biggest) Wye catchment mass sampling event of the year... Water quality was assessed at over 170 sites across the catchment and 30 samples were collected for lab analysis, all by local citizen scientists. Amazing effort from everyone involved!

Another very successful mass sampling event across the Wye catchment yesterday... Water quality was assessed at over 150 sites by volunteers! And these 20 samples made it safely to the lab for analysis. #CitizenScience @FriendsUpperWye @CPRW_UK @CPREHfdshire @WyeSalmon

This.
This is massive, and horrific. @NFUtweets is secretly lobbying the government to allow #neonicotinoid pesticides to be reintroduced after Brexit. It tells its members: "Please refrain from sharing this on social media." On the contrary, please RT. campaigns.nfuonline.com/page…

“3.2million hectares of the UK is estimated to be covered by woodland & forests. So even at the stated plans for 30k hectares of tree planting a yr, that's only increasing our existing woodland by less than 1% a year" said Riverford co-owner Zac on the green industrial revolution
The government has released its new 10 point green plan, spending £12bn to catalyse a green industrial revolution. But does it go far enough? #wickedleeks wickedleeks.riverford.co.uk/…

''Frankly, this reversal of our philosophy to water management over the past centuries is a no-brainer'' Really nice blog from @theriverstrust summing up why #NatureBasedSolutions are critical to addressing freshwater pollution.
Great blog by @MarkLloydRT on why partnership and community working is the way forward when disconnecting rain water from our sewerage. theriverstrust.org/2020/11/1…

Milk: officially now cheaper than water, if you buy it from @Tesco anyway. When you think about what has gone into producing milk - by the farmers, the cows, the land, the environment - it seems something close to criminal to sell it for less than spring water. – at Lambeth, London

Some great ideas coming from farmers to help tackle the issue of #plasticpollution in our rivers and the ocean. Finding alternatives to the use of plastic in farming is key. @theriverstrust @sascampaigns @CUWaterResearch
