Note what the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has done to two great and ancient words, Peace and Justice. “Peace” has become almost solely a “pro-Israel” term. Well-intentioned people use it to support the two states solution or the shared homeland solution. Others use it to fantasize about Jewish superiority and Palestinian submission, or ethnic cleansing, or even genocide. ”Justice“ has become almost solely a “pro-Palestinian” term. It is very often a polite euphemism for ethnic cleansing of all Israeli Jews “back to Europe”. Worse minds mean genocide of Israeli Jews pure and simple. In my view, “justice” is an unreachable Platonic ideal in such monumental and labyrinthine conflicts. “In the place where we are right,” wrote Yehuda Amichai, “No flowers will grow.” But a fair compromise is reachable. A well-intentioned peace is reachable. Letting Time heal both sides is reachable. And more just, I suggest, than the justice of the killings fields.

Bill Moyers, brilliant journalist, commentator and press secretary to President Johnson, is dead at 91. My favorite Moyers story: LBJ asked him to say grace at a White House dinner, then interrupted: "Bill, don't mumble!" Moyers: "I wasn't speaking to you, Mr. President."

I leave you with a quote from Pirkei Avot: "Who is strong? One who masters their impulses.” Strength in Judaism isn’t about dominance — it’s about self-discipline, clarity, and endurance. Anger is understandable, but action rooted in principle is power. Be well.

I'm sure there are many people looking at an Israeli hospital being hit and going "Why is this attack unacceptable and not the attacks on Gazan hospitals?" And I think there is a huge misunderstanding here. So, let's be extremely clear: Gazan hospitals being targeted wasn't acceptable either. The Israeli hospital was not a valid military target, it was a place for healing and discovering new life saving treatments. The Gaza hospitals were also these things, until Hamas selfishly and cruelly used them as military outposts. Losing places of healing is a travesty. We agree on that, maybe just not on the point in time those places were lost.

Thankfully, in the Iranian regime’s most recent attack on Israel, no lives were taken, but there was still no shortage of loss. Years of innovation and research have been destroyed at the Ben Gurion University Soroka campus. Pathology labs, medical labs, and people's life work all gone. destroyed, and for what? These BGU researchers only have the most sophisticated, brilliant, and unbelievable contributions to share with the world to better it. They have devoted their lives to curing disease, but the disease of hate ultimately won out today. It truly is the worst sickness of all. Today is a sad, sad day for humanity.

I had an epiphany yesterday. When I fight with people on either side, I’m making a terrible mistake. It’s not just that I’m turning people off and putting negativity into the world, I’m also making it about myself and not the message. It’s a distraction. What matters are the people of Gaza and the hostages but me. Not petty fights. May God give us all the strength to overcome our flaws, ego and need for attention to focus on what matters: ending and preventing human suffering.

Calling Gal Gadot a “baby killer” isn’t about her army service. It’s about her being Jewish and Israeli. The antisemitism isn’t subtle — it’s blatant. Also, mocking her for “changing her name”? Learn some history: Her family’s original name, Greenstein, ends in “-stein” — a Yiddish suffix. Yiddish = Hebrew + German. Ashkenazi Jews were forced to take German-sounding names to survive. Spoiler: it didn’t save them. So her parents reclaimed their identity. They Hebraized their name — back to their roots, their language, their culture. Gal Gadot didn’t erase anything. She restored it. And if you’re going to come for a Jewish woman, at least spell her name right. This isn’t activism. It’s pathetic. And we see right through it.
