25 years… sometimes feels like yesterday. The song below wasn’t written about 9/11 but for me it captures the memory of it

Warning that “war is back in vogue” and that peace is increasingly sought through force rather than justice, Pope Leo XIV issued a strong appeal for humility, dialogue, and a renewed commitment to multilateralism in his address to the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See.
Thank you as always @overtherhine for the music of “The Darkest Night of the Year”. Would not be solstice without it.

On this day in 1980, U2 released their debut studio album “Boy”
The “boy” on the cover (Peter Rowen) is now 51 years old and a celebrated photographer in Ireland.
RIP Bill Moyers whose “Fooling with Words” series long ago introduced me to the Dodge Poetry Festival and some of the world’s best poets.

War does not solve problems; on the contrary, it amplifies them and inflicts deep wounds on the history of peoples, which take generations to heal. No armed victory can compensate for the pain of mothers, the fear of children, or stolen futures. May diplomacy silence the weapons! May nations chart their futures with works of peace, not with violence and bloodstained conflicts!
