Went to a gathering last night and confirmed my status as a master of killing conversation stone dead using only three words.
“What have you been up to then?”
Oh, nothing much.
“Have you come from far?”
Not too far.
“How’s the family?”
Yeah, fine, thanks.
“How’s work?”
Same old, really.
“Work going alright, though?”
Keeping busy, yeah.
“Been away on holiday recently?”
Not recently, no.

ALT ME and my missus are Scrabble fanatics, so I'd always planned to propose during a game by using the tiles to spell out 'MARRY ME'. However, in 55 years of playing against her, I've never once picked out the requisite letters and, as such, we remain unmarried, and living separately with our parents, to this day.
