Yes, it can. It's really up to you. Just don't be afraid to write "giftcard". It is we - users - who decide. Language is ours. xitter.cf/AmyKobes/status/997207…

White supremacy has dictated the rules around the English language. Speaking in Ebonics doesn’t mean someone is stupid or unintelligent! It’s just speaking in a way that has been spoken around you. I’m HIGHLY educated so the last thing I needed is a dictionary.
Why "above" can be an adjective and "below" can't? Why you can say "Please write to us at the above address" but you can't say "Please write to us at the below address"? And what if we decide that we will use "below" as an adjective? Who is going to stop us? Who is with us?

A very good article showing how many things you need to know to speak fluently and correctly in English antimoon.com/other/english-f… And this is exactly why so many people, even after many years of learning, still make mistakes. But is it really worth to master this? To what end?
Double negation. Used in the past - even by Shakespeare. Considered today by many well educated as a sign of poor education. Purely logical choice should be perhaps to avoid it. But I really don't mind as long as I understand speaker's intentions. youtube.com/watch?v=dCK7OaNm…
