🧵 I really wish this Christmas people would stop, take a step back & look at the big picture. We are AMERICA "Land of the Brave, Home of the Free". Are we really? I have to wonder with all of the hateful culture wars, violent hateful rhetoric, & mass shootings by right wing 1/

Any Republicans thinking about running for office in 2028 should just sit this one out. They have proven to be liars, selfish, & willing to bend over backwards for their CORPORATE donors. They need to learn that America does NOT want conservatism, we want PROGRESS!

Thank you, Donald, for all of your hard work (i.e., incompetence, corruption, treason, and betrayal of the American people) in ensuring Democrats win in a way that will make your life miserable for the next two years--and make our lives better.

BREAKING: WHITE FLAG! Historic loser Donald Trump CAVES and says that he'll accept the blue tsunami and will try to work with Democrats. We won so big that he can't even claim it was rigged this time... “I am absolutely willing to accept those results,” Trump told The New York Times. He's already blaming his party's collapse at the ballot box on the candidates themselves, even though exit polls prove that Americans despise Trump and his policies. They're fed up with endless wars, high gas prices, and rampant corruption in the White House. “We’ll work with the Democrats, and we’ll, you know, look forward to working with them. We’ll probably work something out," Trump added. Of course, he'll have no choice but to "work" with Democrats because we now control the House and Senate. His somewhat conciliatory reaction to this overwhelming blowout shows that he's worried. He knows that we have subpoena power now and the moment that these new senators and representatives are sworn in, Democrats are going to launch a sprawling wave of investigations into his crimes. We also can't rule out the possibility that Trump will reverse course, cry foul, and try to claim the election was "stolen" in the coming days. But even then, he won't be able to do a thing now that we've won so big! Please ❤️ and share if you support mass investigations of the Trump administration!

I'm so tired of life insurance agents calling me every few months telling me my premium dropped & they need to verify my info. The next thing I know they've signed me up for a completely new plan. I blocked the number & I now have 4 life Insurance policies I need to cancel. 🙄

HHS is celebrating opioid deaths at a near-decade low, and prescriptions cut to about half of 2015 levels. Even the Health Affairs piece cheering it on admits "some people may be undertreated for pain." Then nobody checked on those people. They counted prescriptions. Not patients. A drop in prescriptions isn't a win if the people who needed them were left behind. Outcomes over optics. Link in next post 👇

Hey Republican politicians. Did it ever occur to you that the reason you are losing the mid terms is because WE aren't falling for your lies, bigotry, & racism anymore? You have enabled Trump in all of his corruption & we aren't standing for it! You only care about your donors.

NEVER RETURN UNUSED RX OPIOIDS - THEY MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE SOMEDAY! Stored properly, RX opioids can maintain their strength and efficacy for 30yrs or longer. The military did the research and testing, and they store their RX opioids for decades. On the other hand if you return them, there's a high possibility they'll just be diverted to the street by some slippery fingered pharmacy staff. Think that sounds unfair? Then think about this: news reports state that between 2012 and 2019, 9 MILLION doses of RX opioids were stolen from pharmacies - not by pain patients, but by people with access to the pharmacy, whether diverted by staff or stolen and diverted by other criminals. Keep your opioids safe from criminals - don't take them back to the pharmacy.
Absolutely ridiculous. What a waste of taxpayer dollars If there was an opioid crisis, why would there be unused opioids to return? Rep Bonamici (Oregon) wants chronic pain patients to fund these ridiculous drug take back days. The world has gone mad

If you think the invisibility cloak JK Rowling created for Harry Potter was effective, you should see the one #ChronicPain patients are given when they show up in an emergency room… it makes their complaints, signs, and symptoms completely unnoticeable and unimportant. 😳😳😳@jk_rowling

Sadly, Todd Blanche is so stupid he thinks everyone is a stupid as he is. He actually thinks people are stupider than him. This whole Alaska name thing proves just how stupid Todd Blanche thinks Americans are. "They might be confused" he says. Hey Todd! You don't run #Elections !

AMAZING! Republican election officials denied NC A&T campus an early-voting site. Students marched about 45 minutes each way to vote ANYWAY! Put up barriers to voting, and don’t be surprised when people get angry, get organized, and bring even MORE voters to the polls!

Insurance companies are nothing more than greedy middlemen practicing medicine without a LICENSE! It's time for a single payer non profit system. The crony capitalism in this country has to be stopped.
🚨 ANTHEM HAS DECIDED IT’S MY DOCTOR AGAIN Earlier this year, @AnthemBCBS denied an MRI ordered to determine whether my CANCER HAD SPREAD, calling it “not medically necessary.” I publicly called them out. The post went viral. Anthem suddenly contacted me, apologized—and approved the scan. Now they’re doing it again. In August, I severely injured my left foot. I’ve been in acute pain ever since and am walking around Brooklyn in a giant medical boot. After two weeks of fighting just to get access to an in-network podiatrist, I finally saw a specialist. She examined me, ordered an X-ray, saw a hairline fracture and damage around the Achilles/heel area, and ordered an MRI so she can determine exactly what I injured and how to treat it. My podiatrist says the MRI is medically necessary and needs to happen ASAP. Anthem denied it. “Not medically necessary.” Let me make sure I understand this. The specialist who actually examined my foot, reviewed my X-ray and is responsible for treating me says she needs an MRI. Anthem — the insurance company that has to PAY for the MRI — says she doesn’t. Apparently Anthem is my podiatrist now. My MRI is scheduled for Tuesday, October 20 at 5 PM. Instead of simply getting the medical care my doctor ordered, I am now spending my time calling the provider, the imaging center and Anthem’s appeals department trying to persuade an insurance company to let my doctor practice medicine. And yes, there is an appeal process. There is always an appeal process. Because apparently being injured isn’t enough. You also need a second job as your own insurance claims attorney. Here is what makes me angriest: If Anthem refuses to approve the scan, I can pay for it myself. Millions of Americans cannot. What happens when someone living paycheck to paycheck is told the MRI their doctor ordered isn’t “medically necessary”? What happens when it isn’t a foot? What happens when it’s cancer? What happens when the patient simply gives up because they don’t have the money, time, energy or platform to fight a massive insurance company? I have already learned what happens when you publicly embarrass Anthem. A scan that wasn’t “medically necessary” suddenly became medically necessary. Nothing about my condition changed. The public attention did. Access to healthcare should not depend on your ability to make an insurance company uncomfortable on social media. My doctor ordered the MRI. Anthem denied it. The scan is Tuesday at 5 PM. Let’s see who blinks. And if you’ve had an insurance company deny care your doctor said you needed, tell me your story. I have a feeling there are a lot of us.

Good morning and Happy Saturday to everyone who agrees with General Milley on No Kings Day: "We don't take an oath to a king, or a queen, or a tyrant, or a dictator, and we don't take an oath to a wannabe dictator... We take an oath to the Constitution." F*ck yeah!

BREAKING: ROCK BOTTOM! The wife of Abdul El-Sayed's MAGA opponent gets caught in a parking lot handing out $10 gas cards while begging Michiganders to vote for her husband. This might be the most pathetic bribe in history... Kristi Rogers, the wife of hack Senate candidate Mike Rogers, was caught on camera in a parking lot wearing a flashy red pantsuit, heels, and a "Mike Rogers for Senate" sticker by Detroit journalist Sam Robinson. She was approaching random people and giving out the free gas cards. “You should have gotten me before you filled up. I’ve got a $10 gift card!” she said to one man who had just filled up his tank, no doubt forking over an arm and a leg in the process thanks to Trump's insanely inflated gas prices. Common Dreams reports that numerous other videos show Mrs. Rogers deploying this incredibly thirsty tactic in an effort to generate good will for her embattled, corrupt husband. Mike Rogers has been getting hammered by El-Sayed over his support for Trump, who caused gas prices to spiral out of control by launching an illegal war of aggression against Iran on Israel's behalf. Worse still, Rogers supported the war until public opinion polling forced him to change his tune. But the damage has already been done. Sorry Kristi, but we don't think your little bribes are going to cut it. $10 can't even buy you three gallons of gas in Michigan, where prices have climbed to $4.58 a gallon. Before Trump kicked off his child-murdering war, prices were sitting around $2.85 a gallon. While Mrs. Rogers did not directly urge any of the gift card recipients to vote for her husband in return for the money (which would be illegal) she did tell them to "consider" voting for him. We suggest that she "consider" getting a new husband. Mike Rogers isa shameless pedophile protector who should be banished from politics for the rest of his miserable life. Please ❤️ and share if you think that El-Sayed is going to win!

Chicago detectives drove him to a patch of waste ground, put a sh0tgun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. Three times. Darrell Cannon had been told in the car that they had "a scientific way of interrogating" people. Then they took his trousers down and used a cattle prod on him. 2nd November 1983. Officers came into his family's flat and arrested him for murder. What he says happened next, he has said publicly, in sworn statements, in court, and in print under his own name for Amnesty International. They drove him away from the station to a secluded spot. They forced a shotgun into his mouth and pulled the trigger, letting him believe each time that it was loaded. Then they pulled his trousers down and shocked him on the genitals with an electric cattle prod. He confessed. He has written one sentence about why that answers every question anybody has ever asked about false confessions: he confessed because he wanted it to stop. He served twenty-four years. His conviction was eventually thrown out and the charges dropped in 2007. He was one of more than a hundred Black men tortured by detectives under Commander Jon Burge in Chicago between about 1972 and 1991. Electric shock. Suffocation. Guns in mouths. Radiator burns. Burge was fired in 1993 and never tried for torture, because the statute of limitations had expired. He was convicted in 2010 of lying about it, served four and a half years, and kept his police pension until he died. As Cannon has put it: not one officer has been convicted for the torture itself. In 2015 Chicago became the first city in America to pass reparations for police torture — a fund, counselling, free college for survivors and their families, and a legal requirement that this be taught in Chicago public schools. They had to legislate it into the curriculum. Otherwise it would have gone. Darrell Cannon is in his seventies. He speaks in schools now. He tells children what happened to him in a police station in their city, because a law says somebody has to. Darrell Cannon’s story exposes a chapter of American justice that cannot be understood through prison sentences alone. Read the stories of those who suffered, the systems that failed them, and the questions that remain unanswered savvypurchase.samcart.com/pr…

By 2016, data showed most US overdoses “involving” prescription opioids were multi-drug events: benzodiazepines, alcohol, heroin, fentanyl. Policy cut prescriptions anyway. Patients cut off saw no proven benefit:
