This is the biggest lesson I've learned from the two owners I've worked for in my career.
I’m going to embarrass myself here.
In 2003, I bought the Batman Returns Batmobile featuring Michael Keaton, Michelle Pfeiffer, Danny DeVito.
I paid $140,000.
Three years later, someone offered me $350,000. I sold it.
It just went to auction last week. Sold for $7 million.
That’s a 19% compounded return!!!
I had the asset. If I just held the asset, I would’ve been very well rewarded.
The lesson isn’t about Batmobiles. It’s about holding great assets and getting out of your own way.
Love to see it.
Retroactive to October 12 the #Dbacks are re-signing C Aramis Garcia to an MiLB deal.
Garcia, 33, has been in the organization since Nov. 2024 and has logged 10 MLB games with Arizona.
Additionally, RHP Luis Dionicio was signed to an MiLB deal and is (likely) headed to the DSL.

Watching the ACS live this season, the angle being tested is clearly too far based on what seems like a swing. At the same time, this image illustrates how quickly the bat advances and retracts and how difficult that is to see live.
The Yandy Diaz strikeout to end Game 2 would not have been close to a swing under the review system they've been testing in the minor leagues

If you love baseball you should be following Jerry. Love your commentary always but even better in the playoffs.
HOLDING RUNNERS ON 2B
We are seeing a lot more SB attempts of 3B in the playoffs. It will most likely carry over into next season. They interviewed Ashby after the game & he talked about the Brewers working on it 3x a week. He also talked about looking at 2B during his leg lift. Runners are less likely to run when you are looking at them. I think this is a viable process because pitchers tend to see the target in their minds eye & don’t necessarily need to be locked in on the target with their head & eyes. Pitchers need to have an efficient leg with runners on 2B just like they do with a runner on 1B . LHP’s need to mix in their slide step. An efficient stretch delivery stops the steal & gives you a better chance to throw runners out at HP. Unfortunately most pitchers have two stretch deliveries, one for when they think the runner is running & another when they don’t think the runner is running. Doing that turns the process into a guessing game plus that anti steal delivery is probably the pitcher’s 3rd best delivery & you’re making a high % of high leverage pitches out of your worst delivery. What’s the answer? Have one stretch delivery that allows you to both make pitches & hold runners. You may find that a byproduct of a quicker delivery will be quicker more efficient & consistent arm action. In the development process, how about stretch only until you develop your best stretch delivery?
When I speak to sport management classes, I always explain the importance of understanding the character of your teams' owner. Even if you never interact, his/her character will impact you.
The Knicks' assistant coaches did not receive their championship rings during Tuesday's ceremony, despite being handed ring boxes, according to league sources.
Many longtime employees at Madison Square Garden will not receive rings at all, per team sources.
Those employees got their hopes up in late September, when they were sent a fake championship ring offer as part of a phishing test.

In baseball and business, isn't the main job to get max ROI from each resource? It's quality of the quantity, and this argument holds if the Pirates and Blue Jays are in the series, or if the Yankees and Dodgers are in it. Which is to say, volume isn't the indicator.
The success of the Brewers and Rays is no accident. These World Series teams are both at the top of the league in scouting staff size ⚾️

Great news for downtown. @Walgreens has not been a good actor in downtown for many years. Need to solve for downtown pharmacy, but step in the right direction. Bring that campus downtown!
The University of Nevada, Reno's campus is stretching closer to downtown after obtaining the regionally famous Walgreens that sits atop I-80.
