(1) The modern classroom has become a crucible where our primordial approach-avoidance instincts—once critical for day-to-day survival—are inappropriately triggered by academic challenges, particularly in mathematics. Instead of running away from woolly mammoths and saber-tooth tigers, we now find ourselves fleeing from equations and multiplication tables.
