🧵 I had the opportunity to listen to a fireside chat with Changpeng Zhao (CZ), founder of Binance, at #DubaiToken2049. He shared his thoughts on the state of crypto and Dubai. Here’s what I gathered 👇 – at Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Signed up to the early access. Looking forward to improve my design craft with Emil's guidance! 💪
I’ve been working on something new: aiforui.dev/ AI for UI has 28 skills and 20 lessons on building great interfaces with AI. More than 3,000 people have enrolled so far. It’s $299 instead of $399 until early access closes on Friday. The full course opens in 2027.

After I posted about failing at Vercel, I got a lot of questions about how I even got the interview. The recipe is simple: Create good work, package it nicely, share it with others. Packaging is the important part. You need to know how to make people care about your work.

Be like @poteto 😎 > Grew up in Singapore with no CS background. > Taught herself design as a teen. > Studied finance at Monash. > First program was an Excel VBA macro. > Failed a startup. > Started blogging and tweeting while learning to code. > EmberConf organizers found her tweets. > Invited her to speak in 2015. > She was a nobody in Melbourne. > Shaking through her first talk. > That one talk changed everything. > Landed at DockYard. Moved to the US. > Another talk got her into Netflix. > Built studio tools. Became a tech lead. > Then an engineering manager. > Missed building. Went back to IC work. > Open-sourced hiring-without-whiteboards. > Dan Abramov invited her to React at Meta. > Imposter syndrome. Said yes anyway. > Six years on the @reactjs team. > Sole author of the React Compiler Beta post. > Co-author of React Compiler 1.0. > Burned out. Took time off. > Started building agent tools for herself. > Joined @cursor_ai in 2026. > Taught agents to verify their own work. > That became pstack. > Cursor got acquired into @SpaceXSI. > Rebuilt Grok Bot. > Now ships 2,000–2,500 PRs a month. > Went from 31K to 200K+ followers. > @elonmusk keeps reposting her. She didn’t start with a degree or confidence. She started by writing in public. Every major job came from people finding her posts. Now she’s building Grok Bot and still on the React Compiler core team. She is truly an inspiration. ✨✨

I designed and built these apps entirely in Claude Code without touching Figma. Here’s my exact workflow 🧵

As you invite more agents to our work, and create software factories to be more productive than ever, you’ll soon outsource everything to an agent, even the thinking. The work you will do will feel frictionless, it will feel amazing on the surface, but once you go a bit deeper, it’ll feel extremely shallow. It won’t reflect the struggles you went through, your decisions, and ideas. It will no longer remind you of you and the work you aspire to. You will turn into just another extremely efficient producer of things, but not a creator like you were before. Invite friction to your work.

My new hobby (riftbound League of Legends) gave me an idea to build something fun - a digital TCG binder that you can bring with you and share with friends. In early works 🍳 stay tuned!

Something that I need to be mindful of with my own portfolio. A basic Design thinking process structure I learned during my bootcamp days don't cut it anymore.
I told a designer this week that her portfolio would be an immediate reject. She asked for it, I was honest, and I’m sharing the advice because a lot of designers need to hear it. Here’s what I’m seeing from the hiring side: The market is hard for designers that are mid. Wars are being fought for the ones that are really good! Case studies are mostly dead. When I review designers with startups, it’s a quick scroll and it’s almost all visual. Nobody has time to read your process. The craft bar is high, even in “boring” B2B SaaS. Designers who hit it are getting interviews left and right. Designers who don’t are having a really hard time. Startups want someone who can punch above their weight. They’re a team of 3 or 4 on a rocket ship, and they need a designer who can wear multiple hats. AI raised the floor. Anyone can generate something generic normie shit now. What’s in demand is the person who fights with the tools until it creates something exceptional instead of accepting the default. So what I told her to do: → Take your first 2-3 projects and redo the screens that matter → Time-box it. Two days, two screens, one quick motion study → Don’t worry if your company’s design system was weak. Redo it and show how it should have been → Get someone with a strong visual bar to push you → Keep the site simple. A single page can get you hired → Start applying and building interview slides only AFTER you fix your portfolio. → Use your network to open doors for you. Nothing matters more right now than the portfolio. It’s not a fun thing to hear. But I’d rather you hear it from me than from silence in your inbox.

Opening my LinkedIn DMs to help Singaporeans with referrals/warm intros/tips for Applied AI roles. Singaporeans are highly capable and we need more of us in Applied AI! Wrote a thing for tips on entering this space but I'm guessing everyone on X doesn't need the help. Feel free to share this with someone who needs it though. Or if you're hiring in Singapore, let me know because there has already been a lot of interest! Solid profiles. medium.com/@louiedooey/7-tip…

Thanks @buildclub_ for coming to singapore and organizing this event. I had a fun experience building an internal tool for a startup accelerator using Manus, Exa, and Mem0 in a short span of 1.5 days! 🔥
Go-to-Market Builders AI Lab - Singapore 🇸🇬 Last weekend, we teamed up with @Singtel & SMU Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship to host a hands-on build event focused on one of the hardest problems in AI right now: actually getting it to market 😬 Teams got hands-on with a powerful toolkit, including @ManusAI, @mem0ai , @Vapi_AI , and @ExaAILabs , to bring their ideas to life. From collaborative study tools to business strategisers, the creativity in the room was something else entirely. Thank you to our brilliant judges and mentors, + Our sponsors and our community 🤍

Gotta start somewhere! 🚀 I'm learning the fundamentals of Software Engineering at @GA Singapore so I can get to the fun parts of building with AI and not blindly vibe coding. Project 1 : building a game using vanilla javascript/css/html knowing i'll barely use it again 😂
