A year for the books. I can't believe it's almost over. So many great memories to cherish and wonderful people and lifelong friends that I'll miss. Thank you @Mud_Fud for leading our wonderful residency program @CCF_IMCHIEFS
Cheers to many more successes and great times!! 🍻🌟😎

Incredible work by the incredible fellow and friend 💪🤓 Check out this highly valuable learning tool for trainees and anyone in Cardiology at any level really! Need to spread this out in the entire Cardiology community !

The hardest part of cardiology 🫀fellowship?? Holding the pager at night.
I built the Cardiology Night Float Application 💻
7 PM: STEMI, shock, VT storm, a crashing Impella, and more. You can call your attending
Work them up and Survive till 7 AM 🕖

A defining study on evaluating MR with Echocardiography & impact on @ASE360 Guidelines. @ACCinTouch @SCMRorg
🎯 Less is more in mitral regurgitation assessment
In 177 patients undergoing near-simultaneous Echo & CMR, just 2 ASE criteria identified significant MR with 91–95% specificity.
🫀 Smarter integration, less quantification, greater diagnostic confidence

Is a heart failure risk assessment complete without knowing someone's gender identity? Our new study of 42K+ gender diverse veterans says: not fully. HF incidence and LVEF trajectory both differed by gender identity, even after adjustment. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Can vitamin K2 + D3 slow severe coronary calcification?
In DANCODE (n=398, CAC ≥400), CAC progression was 21% lower with vitamin K2 + D3 vs placebo over 24 months.
Presented at #ESCCongress and published in Circulation.

Scapis just presented at ESC incredible data on CAC - Among nearly 13,000 participants with CAC=0, only 69 experienced a CHD event, approximately 0.5% over 10 years, well below a 1% 10 year event rate. The largest proof of concept in a prospective study showing the power of ZERO

13/ Maybe that is really the point of this whole debate
My final plea
Please don’t discourage research
Discourage publishing for the sake of publishing
The goal of research during training should not be to create publishers
It should be to create better thinkers, discoverers, clinicians and future leaders
We do all of this at the same time 🙏🙏

12/ Should research remain part of medical training?
Absolutely at each level
Medical school, Residency's Fellowship
Not because everyone needs to become a scientist
Because learning how to ask good questions and seek answers is part of becoming an exceptional clinician too

A must-read in @CircImaging by @SNagueh!
🫀 Past, Present & Future of Diastolic Function – Key Takeaways
🔹 Diastolic assessment has evolved from invasive hemodynamics to a comprehensive #EchoFirst approach.
🔹 The 2025 ASE algorithm simplifies evaluation, reduces indeterminate cases (~0.2%), & improves accuracy for estimating LV filling pressures.
🔹 Age-adjusted e', E/e', PASP, LA strain, pulmonary vein flow, & IVRT are central to modern assessment.
🔹 The algorithm has been validated in 951 patients & adds diagnostic value for HFpEF beyond clinical scores.
🔹 Emerging tools—including LA chamber stiffness, shear-wave imaging, valve opening timing, & AI—may further transform diastology.
