California will keep fighting on behalf of all our people including in the courts.
If some of us can be snatched off the streets without a warrant, based only on suspicion or skin color, then none of us are safe.
Authoritarian regimes begin by targeting people who are least able to defend themselves. But they do not stop there. Trump and his loyalists thrive on division because it allows them to take more power and exert even more control.

The federal government is moving to take over the California National Guard and deploy 2,000 soldiers. That move is purposefully inflammatory and will only escalate tensions.
LA authorities are able to access law enforcement assistance at a moment’s notice. We are in close coordination with the city and county, and there is currently no unmet need.
The Guard has been admirably serving LA throughout recovery.
This is the wrong mission and will erode public trust.

This is a dangerous overreach. When the federal government bypasses state authority to deploy troops without request or necessity, it’s not about safety, it’s about control.
California’s Guard has been doing its job. This move isn’t support; it’s provocation dressed in a uniform.
