Sat night @nyphil, @violincase gave a revelatory perf of Brahms‘ Violin Concerto. Her poise, grace, fire & lyricism transported the audience. After the Brahms & an encore of Carlos Simon‘s ‘Shards of Light’, there was a sense of unity & shared understanding amongst the audience.
Earlier in the week, @violincase & @tilerpeck curated an epic ‘Night Cap’ featuring two pieces by Carlos & brilliant performances by Amaryn Omeda, Seth Parker Woods, Conor Hanick, Roman Mejia and India Bradley.
Rehearsals begin this week @MetOpera for Simon McBurney's production of Die Zauberflöte. What a cast! I’m so excited to be collaborating with these incredible artists, @METOrchestra & @MetOperaChorus on a show that places the mechanics & magic of Mozart’s music front & center.
Tonight marks my final performance in this magical run of Cendrillon with @OperaAustralia. Conducting at the @SydOperaHouse & exploring Australia for 2 months has been a dream.
Beyond its natural wonders, what makes this place so special is the infectious warmth and joy of its people. My deep thanks to all of the OA artists, musicians and team members who have made my time down under unforgettable. @OperaAustralia
