Adding some stuff to deal with the site getting overloaded by bot traffic. If you hit issues, try reloading first, patience second.
API-based functions on everynoise.com are now operational again.
Still waiting for @SpotifyPlatform to process everynoise.com's API quota-extension re-request. New Release Friday apologies to NRbG users.
All everynoise.com functions that use the live Spotify API are currently broken due to Spotify disabling everynoise's API access without warning. I have filed a request to get it turned back on, but am not expecting to hear back one way or the other for a few days.
All everynoise.com functions that use the live Spotify API are currently broken due to a change on Spotify's end. I will assume accidental error, and have contacted support. cc @SpotifyPlatform
If you're near Mumbai and want to hear me talk about music and algorithms and humanity, I'll be speaking at the All About Music conference on August 26th!

Spotify seems to be quietly removing genres from the API now. I'm going to wait and see where this goes before I change the everynoise.com/research.cgi connections. NRbG is not affected.
It's more Unraveled than Wrapped, but here's a tour of the things you can do with your Spotify extended streaming history if you request it and load it into Curio:

For anybody who hasn't been following Curio developments on other channels, the update is that if you download your Extended Streaming History from Spotify (e.g., after December 31?), Curio can do a bunch of stuff with it.

The French edition of my book is out, too, by the way. In case that's your langue préférée.

If you're using NRbG and the previews stopped playing, Force Reload and try again.
If you wish you got this note earlier, switch to Bluesky.
I'll still probably post any major updates here, for a while, but for more stuff come over to bsky.app/profile/everynoise.….
I've been working on Curio to make the listening tools I wanted for myself. But I don't always already know what I want. And anyway, your data is yours. So now it has a query language, so we aren't limited to what I already think.

Some of the Pulse and Edge playlists are still updating and some aren't, and I hadn't tried to figure out why until now. The answer is embarrassing, though not for me. My automation is still running, but it updates each series in alphabetic order, and dies in the Cs or Ds.
My guess is that the generator is trying to create new Pulse/Edge lists for genres that didn't have them before, but a single Spotify account can only have ~10k playlists, and particledetector is maxed out.
PS: If these updates are any tiny fraction of why you're still here, @everynoise.bsky.social.
