Do you remember the movie Lord of the Flies?
I remember only the premise, and the final scene.
That final scene reminds me so much of Israel's future.
Those boys were so sure of their power and impunity. Their world was what they believed and that belief was absolute...until the adults finally showed up, and the realization hit them that what they believed wasn't real. They'd created an alternate reality, a kind of bubble that suspended them between worlds. But the real world came at them fast and hard.
That's what is going to happen to Israelis who believe their own lies, who are drunk of their perceived invincibility, supremacy, and chosen-ness.

A 54-year-old Israeli man allegedly lured women to his Bangkok condo through dating apps, fed them cakes suspected of containing drugs, and secretly filmed sexual encounters.
Thai police arrested him on Friday, discovering he had overstayed his visa by 2,095 days, nearly six years.
Officers seized 15 grams of crystal meth, 50 packaging bags, a digital scale, suspected drug-laced cakes, and a phone containing numerous sexual recordings.
During the arrest, the man reportedly claimed powerful connections would secure his release within two hours. He threatened to have the entire arresting team transferred or fired and allegedly threatened to kill one officer.

Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, presented her latest report, Truth Under the Rubble: Media in the Time of Genocide, to the UN General Assembly yesterday.
The report examines what she describes as โmediacideโ, the systematic destruction of the mediaโs public function, and calls for greater protection of journalists, the preservation of evidence and stronger media accountability.
Albanese identifies three interconnected concerns: the killing, detention and intimidation of Palestinian journalists; censorship, propaganda and incitement within Israelโs information environment; and the role of influential Western media outlets and digital platforms in marginalising Palestinian voices and reproducing narratives that obscure or legitimise atrocities in Gaza.
Speaking to Palestine Deep Dive, she argues that silencing journalists and distorting public understanding is โpart and parcel of a collection of crimes sustained by a destructive intentโ.
