🌊 Jung Hee Sung, Head of the Guryongpo Fishing Village Cooperative and President of the Gyeongbuk Haenyeo Association, attended the FAO 100 Women Heroes Presentation Ceremony at FAO headquarters in Rome on 15 October. With around 40 years of experience as a haenyeo, she has worked to improve the welfare and working conditions of local women fishers, promote their role and contributions, and preserve and pass on haenyeo traditional knowledge and culture. She was selected as one of the FAO 100 Women Heroes in Agrifood Systems and Rural Development, which recognizes women contributing to more sustainable agrifood systems and rural communities around the world. #FAO #100WomenHeroes

Youth from the WFF National Chapter in the Republic of Korea took the lead in organizing the #WFF2026 Decentralized Forum Event on 16 October. 🌱 Under the theme of AI, women farmers and future food, participants explored cases from the ROK, Indonesia and Bhutan, and brought their discussions together in the Youth Manifesto. On 30 September, @FAOROK met with the Mayor of Buan County, Kwon Ik-hyeon, to discuss cooperation on agriculture, fisheries and local development. The two sides exchanged views on opportunities for collaboration, including cultural exchanges related to agriculture and fisheries, and looked forward to their next meeting in Rome.
