This is a terrible idea
This is the moment for President Trump to announce he won and get us out
- Iran’s nuclear capabilities and conventional military have been decimated
- That was the entire point of this: stopping them from getting a nuke
- He can be the one who closes the door on a generation of Middle East wars by drawing down our troop presence in the region. That would be an extraordinary accomplishment
- Thanks to the Abraham Accords, our Gulf allies are aligned and there’s an opportunity to continue empowering them to take responsibility for more of their security, with our support
- The United States imports virtually zero crude oil directly from the Strait of Hormuz. With the conflict ending, the Gulf states are in a great position to work together and manage the SOH going forward, with our support
- By winding down the war, the President has an opportunity to continue his run of building the strongest economy in modern history, with real wages going up and the American dream being attainable for the forgotten men and women he’s always championed
- Can then focus on Ukraine peace deal
Well that simplifies things.
🚨 The Islamic Republic says the MoU with the U.S. is dead and it will never negotiate with the United States again.
Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced that the regime is suspending all commitments under the agreement, claiming the U.S. violated it first. He added that Iran will “never” negotiate with the United States under any circumstances.
The June 2026 MoU was meant to halt direct clashes, temporarily reopen the Strait of Hormuz, ease sanctions, and create a path toward a broader agreement. Instead, it collapsed within weeks as both sides accused each other of violating its terms.
The regime says it is now “purely focused on defending the country,” raising the risk of renewed regional tensions while ordinary Iranians continue to bear the economic and political consequences.
Notable words missing: "self-defense"
STATEMENT:
"U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted strikes against Iran, June 26, as a powerful response to yesterday’s attack on a commercial ship that was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
U.S. aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites after Iran hit M/V Ever Lovely on June 25 with a one-way attack drone. The Singapore-flagged cargo ship was exiting the Strait of Hormuz along the Omani coast at the time of Iran’s attack.
The unwarranted aggression against commercial shipping by Iranian forces clearly violated the ceasefire. Furthermore, Iran’s dangerous behavior undermined freedom of navigation as commerce increasingly flows through the vital international trade corridor.
CENTCOM forces continue to provide safe passage coordination and support to commercial vessels transiting the strait. The U.S. military remains present and vigilant to ensure all aspects of the agreement with Iran are adhered to, obeyed, and in full force and effect."
Memorandum of Understanding my foot in your ass!
The US military conducted strikes against areas near the Strait of Hormuz, Axios reported citing a US official.

OMG how did those 5 ships make it through even though the strait is closed?!
LOL "de-confliction cell"
Just making things up now
#BREAKING Iran and the United States agreed to form a "de-confliction cell" with Lebanon and facilitated by mediators "to ensure the adherence of the termination of military operations in Lebanon as per the MoU,” according to the joint statement from Qatar and Pakistan.

Any promises in the MOU about lifting UN sanctions on Iran are going to face huge obstacles.
UNSC: USA, China, Russia, France, UK
China and Russia might be for lifting sanctions (cheap oil).
France is already saying not gonna happen.
The UK is soft right now, so 50/50
$6 Billion is almost nothing for a country the size of Iran.
First action: Iran opens Strait of Hormuz and US lifts the naval blockade.
Of course the US Navy isn't leaving, and the Strait was the last remaining leverage Iran had, so it seems we are already ahead.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif:
"I am honoured to announce that the historic ‘Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding’ has been electronically signed today between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Memorandum has been signed by honourable Presidents of both the countries and also endorsed by me as the mediator. The signing of this agreement at the highest level of the respective governments demonstrates the commitment of both sides to a diplomatic resolution of the conflict. Islamabad MoU shall enter into force with immediate effect and as a first step, Islamic Republic of Iran will instantly reopen the Strait of Hormuz and the United States of America will immediately lift the naval blockade.
I offer my heartfelt congratulations and sincere appreciation to the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump whose steadfast commitment to diplomacy and preference for peaceful resolution have once again helped end a conflict that could have led to devastating consequences for the region and beyond. I also commend the dedication and tireless efforts of the United States negotiating team, including J.D. Vance, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, for their invaluable contributions to this achievement.
I express my profound respect and appreciation to His Eminence Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Islamic Republic of Iran and President Masoud Pezeshkian for their wisdom, foresight and statesmanship in embracing the cause of peace. I also wish to recognize the efforts of the Iranian negotiating team, including Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Abbas Araghchi and Eskandar Momeni, whose patience, perseverance and commitment to constructive engagement were instrumental in bringing this agreement to fruition.
I would especially like to acknowledge the sincere efforts and constructive engagement of the leadership of the State of Qatar in helping reach this point. I also highly commend the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Türkiye and the Arab Republic of Egypt for their indispensable role and invaluable contributions in this regard.
I would also like to make special mention of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, whose tireless efforts, selfless dedication and instrumental role were critical in facilitating this breakthrough and advancing the cause of peace and regional stability.
May this Memorandum of Understanding serve as an enduring foundation for greater understanding, mutual respect and shared prosperity for the complete region."
