S&P Dow Jones Indices and Kalshi are joining forces to build the next generation of financial markets.
The Dow launched in 1896. The S&P 500 in 1957. The idea was simple: bring individual stocks together into a single benchmark, giving people a clearer view of the broader market.
Over time, products built around those benchmarks transformed investing. Index funds, ETFs, futures, and options gave investors ways to gain diversified market exposure and hedge broad market swings.
These indices became foundations of global finance. More than $20 trillion is indexed or benchmarked to the S&P 500 alone.
Today, this structure extends beyond stocks to bonds, commodities, currencies, and more.
The next step is to bring that structure to the events that shape everyone’s lives.
Through this partnership, S&P Dow Jones Indices and Kalshi will work together to create indices composed of Kalshi event contracts.
Think about what that opens up.
An index of political power. An index of supply chain risk. An index tracking AI’s impact on employment. An index of sports outcomes that affect broadcasters, advertisers, cities, and small businesses. An index of weather risks that shape harvests, energy demand, and business revenues.
Each would bundle event contracts into a single indicator, helping people understand how related risks are evolving.
Over time, products built around these indices could offer diversified exposure to those events and new ways to hedge their impact.
The events that shape our lives could become as easy to track and gain exposure to as the S&P 500.

10 observations from lasts night's games:
1. The Heat should be very concerned.
It's not just ring rust, it's roster construction. It looks like everyone was right that Giannis and Bam can't play together. Heat are 0-4.
2. Cavs actually close a close one for once.
Wolves take their first loss. I still don't buy Cleveland as a real contender with Harden and Mitchell sharing the ball. Minnesota looks like they can run the West.
3. Celtics look really good, even if it was a young Bulls team.
That bench cannot be denied. Pritchard dropped 28. He's the 6MOY favorite, and he'd start on more teams than not.
4. Thunder lose Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace and they're still the top dog in the West in my book.
So deep, well coached, and SGA is the best player in the league so far this season. Ajay Mitchell dropped 30 in the win.
5. Rockets look really, really good.
Arguably 3 All-NBA caliber guys in Thompson, Durant, and Sengun, plus role players who know their place. If they're not your top team right now, they're in your top 5.
6. Curry still has the magic.
Perfect 8-for-8, 24 points. Yaxel looked great putting up 31 and 12. Nuggets should be slightly concerned at 1-2. Jokic's supporting cast isn't holding up their end so far.
7. I really like this Hornets team. So fun to watch.
Playing like a true playoff team while missing two of their best (Knueppel and Coby White). Give me 2019 Nets vibes before Durant, Kyrie, and Harden ruined them.
8. Pacers lose to the Bucks. Milwaukee's backcourt played well. I still have Indiana as a top 4 seed.
9. This Grizzlies team is not rolling over. 4-0. Everyone saying they'd have the worst record and they're doing their best to prove everybody wrong.
10. Cooper Flagg is going to be a better player than Victor Wembanyama.
