I live in the “South”, Louisiana. My father adopted two black teammates of mine. They didn’t live with us, but they called him “Dad”, cried harder than I did at his funeral. Both stood as groomsmen in my wedding. I started and ran a very successful Commercial Real Estate Company for years, my assistant was black. When we closed, she was hired by an all white Commercial Real Estate Company, with 50 white agents, to be the office manager. When I was a member of a country club, I bet I was friends with almost as many of the staff (who were black) as other members. My neighbor is black. I catch, clean and take him fresh fish fillets every time I go fishing. He brings me a plate of food, on every holiday. We laugh, cry, share stories, drop everything to help each other. I consider him a great friend. I know a lot of people and I don’t associate with anyone who is outwardly racist. I know they exist, but they’re few and far between. There are certain black people I choose not to associate with because we don’t share common interests, but there are more white people who I avoid for the same reason. I was taught I’m no better, or worse than anyone for any reason especially race. I don’t have a racist body in my body, because of how I was raised So I am getting sick and tired of everything being turned into a race war. These videos from yesterday are infuriating. Despite going through life going out of my way to treat everyone with respect, it’s simply not being reciprocated. I know it’s not everyone, but it’s heavily weighted towards white people and it’s getting old. Maybe I’m getting older, but it’s seems to be getting worse and accelerating at an unhealthy pace. I’m not alone. As soon as the verdict was announced yesterday and the vile actions started, I went and bought ammunition and sighted in my pistol NOT BECAUSE I’m mad enough to go look for trouble, but because it feels like it’s closer than ever to finding me. Something has to change, because this hatred is unsustainable and will end up in a race war, which no one wants or needs, especially the unhinged black community Long post I know, which most people don’t even see.
