Had the opportunity to serve as a resource person during a refresher training by @FLAGambia , through @WomenInLiberat1 , for journalists/editors on Survivor Protection & Child Safeguarding in SGBV and FGM Reporting.
Congratulations once again, we can't wait to see all that you'll accomplish. The future of the legal profession is brighter with you in it.

Join us in celebrating 10 of our junior members who have officially been enrolled as Barristers & Solicitors of the Supreme Court of The Gambia.
Monday recap: On 9 July, we joined Hilltop FM for an engaging discussion with legal practitioner Ida Njie and psychosocial expert Basiru Sanneh on key issues affecting women and children in The Gambia: child maintenance/custody, FGM, SGBV, inheritance and land mental health.
FLAG concluded a radio discussion on SGBV, child marriage, FGM, and other challenges affecting women and girls in The Gambia. Bringing together legal, health, and religious perspectives, we explored practical ways to prevent violence, protect rights, and promote access 2 justice
From religious lenses, Imam Jah reflected on Islamic teachings that uphold the dignity, protection, and wellbeing of women. He urged men to treat their wives with kindness, compassion, and respect, emphasizing that safeguarding women's rights is consistent with the values Islam.
He encouraged women to make informed decisions, seek professional medical advice, and distance themselves from harmful traditional practices that put their health and wellbeing at risk.
Participants asked relevant questions to better understand their health issues.
Our health expert , Mr. Mass Laye, highlighted the physical and mental health impacts of these harmful practices. He also spoke about the dangers of "Taaba" (vaginal tightening/irrigation practices), explaining how they can lead to infections and other health complications.
FLAG's Mobile Legal Aid Clinic continued in Lamin, West Coast Region, bringing together community members to discuss the health and social consequences of SGBV, child marriage, teenage pregnancy, rape, and FGM.
This activity is supported @ClooneyFDN
