What makes a workplace a great place to work? Leadership that builds trust, a culture that supports people, and a shared commitment to achieving more together.
Recently, our Executive Director, Hakeem Muhammed, joined fellow business leaders at the Great Place To Work Nigeria Trust Summit 2026 for a panel discussion on “Winning in the Nigerian Trust Economy: Culture as Strategy. Trust as the Currency of Leadership.”
The conversation explored the role of trust in leadership, the importance of intentional workplace cultures, and how these shape organisational performance and business success.
At FSDH Merchant Bank, we recognise that the culture we build starts with the leadership we demonstrate. Creating an environment where people can contribute, grow and do their best work is central to building a workplace where people thrive and business can flourish.
We are pleased to contribute to conversations that are shaping the future of work and reinforcing the role of trust in building stronger organisations.
While needing access to capital is still a major concern for female entrepreneurs, investors also need clarity on the business model, financial performance, operations and path to growth.
For female entrepreneurs looking to scale, strengthening these areas can make the business better prepared for investment conversations. At FSDH Merchant Bank, we recognise the importance of supporting women-led businesses as they navigate their growth journeys and explore opportunities for funding.

Building a business is one thing. Building one that can scale, compete globally and outlive its founder is another.
At the Stanford SEED G3 Conference, our MD/CEO, Bukola Smith, challenged entrepreneurs to think beyond survival and focus on what it takes to build businesses that last. From putting the right systems in place to meeting global standards and thinking beyond familiar markets, she shared practical insights on turning business potential into sustainable growth.

Cross-border trade can place pressure on a business from several directions: from currency exposure and payment terms to liquidity and transaction risk. Structured Trade Finance helps businesses structure these considerations around the transaction, supporting imports, payment terms, FX exposure and specific trade obligations.
The right financing structure can make complex transactions easier to plan and manage. For enquiries on our trade services contact our Trade Services team: [email protected]
Growth opportunities often come with very different financing needs. A business bridging a short-term cash-flow gap needs something different from one purchasing equipment, fulfilling a major contract, or expanding capacity. Each of these has its own timeline, its own risk profile, and its own relationship between when cash goes out and when it comes back in.
Matching the financing structure to that reality, rather than defaulting to whatever facility is easiest to access, is what determines whether financing actually supports the business or adds pressure to it.

Better informed decisions start with better conversations.
And sometimes, the best conversations are the ones that give you a new perspective, answer a question you’ve been thinking about, or simply get you thinking.
That’s the idea behind The Blue Side, FSDH’s podcast where we bring together conversations across different topics, featuring members of the FSDH community and guests with experiences, perspectives and stories worth sharing.
The Blue Side will have different series, each exploring a particular area. And we’re kicking things off with The Wealth Side.
For Episode 1, Kemi Olatunji, Senior Wealth Manager at FSDH Merchant Bank, sat down with Margaret Agbonlahor, Senior Vice President at FSDH Asset Management, to discuss The Biggest Mistakes Wealthy People Make with Their Money.
From wealth preservation and diversification to lifestyle, succession planning and professional advice, there was plenty to unpack. And from these moments, it’s clear there was plenty of fun to be had too.
Here’s a look at some moments from the session.
We will be sharing highlights from the conversation soon. Turn on post notifications to get notified.

We were honoured to participate in the Grand Reception hosted by the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association (SCOBA), an evening celebrating distinguished Gregorians whose contributions continue to make an impact across various sectors.
The event also marked the launch of the ₦25 billion St. Gregory’s Old Boys Association Endowment Fund, established to support the continued development of the school. FSDH Merchant Bank has been appointed as the Custodian Bank to the Fund.
Representing FSDH Merchant Bank were our Managing Director/CEO, Bukola Smith; Executive Director, Corporate Banking & Branches, Stella-Marie Omogbai; and Head, Global Custody, Osamuede Fadaka, who joined an esteemed gathering of alumni, business leaders and stakeholders.
The event also featured the recognition of accomplished Gregorians, including the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso, and the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu, among other distinguished honourees. Their recognition underscored the enduring legacy of leadership, service and excellence that St. Gregory’s College continues to inspire.
