Cris Carter says Travis Hunter did not deserve to win the 2024 Biletnikoff Award, stating that Jeremiah Smith deserved to win it as a freshman & says Travis should’ve been playing corner from day one. Key takeaways in his own words: "They gave him the Biletnikoff Award, he wasn't the best receiver in college football. Actually Jeremiah Smith was as a freshman... But they gave it to him." "This is exactly what I said when they drafted him. You should put him at corner." "The number one skill that he has that you cannot teach is bump-and-run and the length that he has on his arms. Elite athlete, can run with anyone in the league... Like, you should put him at corner." "The best thing for him is the positive reps, playing him at one position... Let him see that and everything... He's going to have probably five to eight interceptions by the end of the season. Only going to get better because he missed most of his rookie year." "The biggest development between a pro player is not only week number one for a team to week number two, but it's year one to year two." "In year number two, guess what they don't have to do in the offseason? They don't have to hire an agent, they don't have to go to all these banquets, they don't have to go to the combine... They have more freedom." "Doing his rehab, it was time well spent. You could see his face fuller, you can see his body definition, composition had really changed. And that's the part about being a pro. He learned the part about being his body this offseason." "He'll learn the ins and outs of being a corner in the league, but he'll be an elite corner in this league... In the first four years, he'll be an elite corner in the NFL."
