Lane Johnson joined me at a South Jersey high school 2 years ago to speak to a community that had lost five teenagers to suicide in just two years.
We talked about the importance of prioritizing mental wellness, and Lane spoke openly and courageously about his own struggles.
Today, Lane announced his retirement from the NFL, saying, “It is critical that I focus on my mental health.”
His football resume is impressive: 5-time AP All-Pro (first & second team); 6-time Pro Bowl pick. He helped the Eagles win 2 Super Bowls and reach another. I’ll argue he was the most valuable non-quarterback in football over the past 15 years. The Eagles were 122-63-1 when Lane started and 18-30 when he didn’t.
But when I think about Lane Johnson, that night in Mullica Hill, N.J. stands out. He showed up for a grieving community, made himself vulnerable and used his platform to let young people know they weren’t alone.
The football world will remember how valuable Lane Johnson was on the field.
That community will remember the impact he made off it.
Congratulations, @LaneJohnson65, on a Hall of Fame-worthy career. Your next chapter may be even more meaningful and I have no doubt you can make a profound difference by continuing to help others prioritize their mental health and wellness.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott on the team is expressing their religious faith more than any time since his rookie season:
“Absolutely. I think credit ‘Schotty’ [Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer] and his leadership and the way that he's opened that up. That's who he is. That's who I am. That's who a lot of the guys on our team are and trying to be contagious and understand we're all here because of God and we're all here to serve a greater purpose. That's my point about opening your perspective up when things happen, win, lose, or draw, what's the purpose? What does God have meaning for this? We may not always have the answers for it but we know what God wants us to do in our response and that's be the best versions of ourselves, serving Him, serving others and doing it with just pure love. I'm thankful for this team. We've got great chaplains in Jonathan and Dr. Evans and so they're helping lead that cause and that's life. I've been through so much in my life. God's always been the reason and, yeah. Who I fall back on and my refuge, as I say, I can't thank Him enough and never will be able to thank Him enough and just to see that transcend throughout our team, starting with our head coach is special. It's something that we take pride in. At the end of the day, it's about giving Him the glory. From that, good things will come, all great things will come, so thankful for that.”

#MensMentalHealthAwarenessMonth #YouthSuicidePrevention
Mental health and wellness needs to be prioritized every day—not just during May.
If you’re struggling, please know this: you are not alone. Help is available, and things can get better. Many of us have overcome various struggles.
I was grateful for the opportunity to have a powerful and deeply personal conversation with @Titans DL Solomon Thomas, who has endured the heartbreaking losses of his sister, Ella, and @dallascowboys teammate Marshawn Kneeland to suicide.
Solomon courageously shared his own mental health journey, including how @49ers GM John Lynch supported him during a time when he was experiencing suicidal thoughts.

#Gratitude changes the way we see the world. When we focus on what we have instead of what we lack, even ordinary moments become meaningful. Every breath, every blessing, and every new day is a reminder of God’s grace. It’s refreshing to take a moment to appreciate the small blessings - a kind word, a new opportunity, or simply the gift of another day. A grateful heart doesn't just find happiness; it creates it.
