Two Bears in the top 3 through Week 8. 👀 Odunze wins deep. Burden wins underneath. Both are doing more with their catchable targets than almost every WR in the league.
Receiving Efficiency Index, top 5 through Week 8 (WRs with 40+ targets): Drake London, ATL: 129.2
Caught 39 of 40 catchable targets, 28 first downs, +1.6 yards after the catch over expected. Rome Odunze, CHI: 128.6
14 of 30 catchable targets went for 20+ yards. Average target depth of 14.9 yards. Luther Burden III, CHI: 127.6
42 of 42 on catchable targets, 0 drops, +1.9 yards after the catch over expected. Tee Higgins, CIN: 122.1
36 first downs on 48 catchable targets. His 75% rate leads all qualifiers. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, SEA: 120.0
89 targets, 49 first downs, 16 catches of 20+ yards, 985 yards. The top three are separated by 1.6 points, too close to call this early. REI measures what a WR does with catchable throws. Passes broken up by the defense aren't counted. #NFL

Brandon Aiyuk's 2023 season was the most efficient WR season since 2018.
105 targets. 61 first downs. 28 catches of 20+ yards. 2 drops. His Target Efficiency Score was 147.8 (see graphic). That ranks 1st of 80 WRs in 2023 and 1st of 672 WR seasons since 2018. Purdy and Shanahan's offense help, but Deebo scored 125.2 in the same system. That's the season that got him a 4-year, $120M extension in 2024. He hasn't played since tearing his ACL and MCL on Oct. 20, 2024. If he's reinstated and passes a physical, that ceiling is worth a low-guarantee flyer.

Aiyuk's Target Efficiency Score by season: 2020: 97.6 (47th of 86)
2021: 121.0 (6th of 91)
2022: 108.4 (26th of 85)
2023: 147.8 (1st of 80) He'd been good before 2023, but nothing close to that. The 49ers paid for one elite season on top of a solid track record. That's why it's a flyer, not a big guarantee. The 2021 and 2022 seasons were good and 2023 put it all together for him and got him PAID.

For example, I can tell with you good certainty that I was wrong about these teams so far this season: - Tennessee - New Orleans - Houston - Pittsburgh - Philadelphia - LA Chargers - Minnesota It’s OK. The NFL isn’t predictable year to year. We can all laugh at ourselves.

Someone get a hold of this guy ASAP. There is too much hidden depression in the NFL and these decisions he’s making is recipe for the downhill spiral. Self inflicted wounds are wounds nonetheless. He needs counseling. Quality friends. Leadership. Discipline. I know what it is to make dumb decisions on a smaller scale. I’m 1000% praying for him.
Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, claiming more than $3.45 million in debt. According to court documents, more than $2.1 million is tied to civil lawsuits stemming from his 2024 high-speed Dallas car crash and allegations of abuse by his former girlfriend. Rice reported having just $13,640 in his checking accounts and roughly $677,000 in personal assets. 📷 Getty

He needs to pivot, own his mistakes and work through them. It seems like an impossible valley to overcome… but it can be done.

BEARS just beat Seahawks by 17 points. That’s the same as the COMBINED margin of loss in their last 6 losses. 😤😤😤🐻⬇️

Akiem Hicks was the last Bears D-lineman who made you WATCH the trenches on every snap. 🐻 He made the 2018 Pro Bowl and had 20 QB hits in 2017. He even scored a rushing TD, the first by a Bears D-lineman since the Fridge. The whole building fed off his energy. Leadership, production and contagious energy. It's been a long wait for the next one. Jeffery Simmons has a sack and 2 TFLs tonight, and you can feel it again in the middle. 😤
