#49ers had four defensive penalties accepted today. Three of those came on third or fourth down and resulted in a first down that led to scoring drives. The fourth was on a second and 20 that also helped lead to a touchdown. Not a ton but poorly timed. (One of them also was the result of not being given enough time to sub).

On the first interception, #49ers QB Brock Purdy said he thought maybe he had Christian Kirk coming open on the scramble drill but realized as he threw it he wasn't and then didn't get the ball far enough out of bounds on the throwaway. "In that moment, I've got to completely throw the ball away if I'm not going to make an attempt to a receiver."

Only injury from #49ers HC Kyle Shanahan after the game was the thigh issue for RB Christian McCaffrey, who returned to the game. Shanahan also confirmed that CB Upton Stout (shoulder) was only available in an emergency today.

#49ers pressured Falcons QB Michael Penix on 3 of 34 drop backs today. That 9% pressure rate is their lowest since week 16 of 2024 against Miami (also 9%).

#49ers may have been due for a clunker and the circumstances were certainly there for a first loss regardless. But a whole lot of silly mistakes in a winnable game will have them regretting dropping this one, 29-20, to Atlanta. Niners enter the much-needed bye at 6-1.

#49ers QB Brock Purdy locked on to his read over the middle for Jordan Watkins. Falcons LB Kendal Daniels sits on it and intercepts it to kill that drive. He returns it to San Francisco's 19. Also, that missed Piñeiro PAT looms here because if SF could hold to an FG, it would still be a one-possession game. It won't be if ATL gets 3.
