We're happy to announce Falkirk Archives are open to the public again! Access will be done by appointments only, please email us at [email protected] for more information!
Falkirk Archives staff have been furloughed for the foreseeable, which is the reason for the upcoming radio silence. Take care of yourselves, and we'll see you on the other side of this 💕
You can keep checking our website for updates at falkirkcommunitytrust.org and we look forward to re-opening our doors as soon as we receive the appropriate advice.
Today is #InternationalWorkersDay! This photograph is of a group of people from Blackbraes/Muiravonside who are holding concerts to raise funds for the General Strike in 1926. #1stMay #MayDay
We have now posted two short posts about our archives assistants to our new blog! Maayan and Lucy write about the path they took to Falkirk Archives, as well as their work here: falkirkarchives.blogspot.com…
The #Archive30 tag of today is #ArchiveGoals, which we are interpreting a little different this time: this photograph from 1919 is of the Stirlingshire Constabulary Football Club which scored the winning goal in that year's Scottish Police Challenge Cup!
Drawing inspiration from @DundeeArchives, we would like to take you on a "choose your own adventure" type tour of Falkirk! We will start at the Falkirk Steeple, and keep going until... who knows! So let's go:

The Cow Wynd is also home to the Tattie Kirk - Established in 1747 as a split from the Falkirk Associate Church by members of the Anti-Burgher movement. Behind the manse is a small burial ground, the earliest grave from 1806.

ALT Exterior view of house. Three storey building (including attic), the manse of the Tattie Kirk, Falkirk. Front of house, with Tattie Kirk in background left. Small bushes in foreground left and centre. Rows of shells lined along the ground at the front of the house. Buildings in background right.
