We study and share what Farmers do - Leading without ego I had the pleasure of doing a podcast interview with newly coined Victorian Farmers Federation president, Ryan Milgate. I’ve known Ryan for a while, but the interview gave me a better understanding of his leadership style. He said he likes to stay more in the background and lift and develop others so they get the best out of themselves. That’s modern-day leadership. He leads without ego. You'll get a great understanding of that when you listen to the podcast. How would you describe your leadership style? PS - See image. This is how we got him to answer the hard questions.... We study and share what Farmers do - Use SafePay for payment reassurance Sometimes we underestimate a product or service and don’t really understand the benefits until we use it. At Farm Tender, we developed a product called SafePay. If someone transacts through Farm Tender, the admin team will do the invoice on behalf of the seller to the buyer and take the money into the Farm Tender trust account, where it sits until both parties are happy. Once both parties have ticked off, the funds are transferred to the seller minus Farm Tender's commission. In this day and age, you can never be too careful when transacting with your hard-earned money. SafePay takes away all that worry. And best of all, the Farm Tender team does it all for you. We study and share what Farmers do - Be honest about your Hay Many a Hay seller has had a story about getting shafted by a Dairy Farmer who didn't pay. Luckily, most of those Dairy Farmers are out of the industry now. So the biggest problem the Hay industry has now is sellers who say someone is when it isn’t. This year, a lot of Hay has been weather damaged and therefore downgraded. Hay sellers have taken a financial hit from this. And this is where the problem lies. Some sellers who misquote the quality think they might get a few extra bucks. But all they do is harm their reputation. Trust in Ag is built in droplets and lost in bucket loads. Be honest about your Hay. It is what it is. Follow us to know more than next door - thefarmersclub.com.au/ Have a great Friday. Dwain Duxson 0427 011 900 [email protected]

We study and share what Farmers do - Great idea - Educating is the new marketing One of our Agletter subscribers has been trying to sell his large Cropping property for some time now. He’s had no luck yet. So he thought of an idea. Rather than market it the traditional way through the Agent, why not try something different? So what he’s done is he’s gathered two of the key Farm advisors he has worked with over the years and is running a webinar. The webinar will review his benchmarking results over the years and compare them with other Croppers in SA. Even if you're not interested in the property, it will be very interesting to watch. Sign up for the webinar here. tinyurl.com/5yrt5ax7 This might be a game changer in how large Rural properties are marketed. Great idea. We study and share what Farmers do - The sabbatical When I hear two of the most influential people in Ag suggest something simultaneously, we sit up and take notice. They're both big supporters of the sabbatical for Farmers and Ag business owners. Why? Not only does it give you a break from the Farm/business; it gives the Farm/business a break from you. Let’s say a sabbatical must be at least a 3-month reprieve. There is a bit to organise before the sabbatical comes to fruition. But it’s a step toward your Farm/business being able to cope in your absence. That's a wish for many. Do you agree that you need a break from your Farm/business? Do you agree that your Farm/buiness needs a break from you? Follow us to know more than next door - thefarmersclub.com.au/ Have a great Wednesday. Dwain Duxson 0427 011 900 [email protected]

We study and share what Farmers do - The “more on” approach questioned We are seeing increased activity among Cropping Farmers exploring alternatives to their current cropping regime. The current system works, but it’s expensive, and we all know that money talks. The "more on" approach works when things go our way. Croppers don’t want to change completely; they just want to tinker and get some cost relief. We wrote about 3 different Farmers who are doing some tinkering in Yesterday’s Agletter. Are you looking to tinker with your Cropping model? Follow us to know more than next door - thefarmersclub.com.au/ Have a great Tuesday. Dwain Duxson 0427 011 900 [email protected]

We study and share what Farmers do - Getting paid for what you know - We’re starting a new newsletter We advocate that everyone should have a side hustle, so we better practise what we preach. That side hustle is a new newsletter, and it’s called Better Get A Newsletter. You can sign up here for free: bettergetanewsletter.com We have been writing about getting paid for what you know. And this newsletter will unlock how you can do it. The newsletter industry and creative space is going nuts in the US, and it’s about to kick here. Are you just a little bit interested in the get-paid-for-what-you-know space? Have a great Monday.
