Today's Black History Month Hero is John Lewis. The revered civil rights activist and politician helped organize the famous March on Washington before he spent 33 years as Congressman from Georgia's 5th District. He was one of my "Fathers on the Floor" in Congress.

I keep my fathers memory alive by watching the movie platoon and listening to the Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsys once a year. My dad recommended me that album because Billy, Buddy and Jimi were some of the best black musicians of the time. – at Chicago, IL
