ECI (Nov 6) directed CEOs of Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana and Nagaland to allow ASDD-category electors excluded from SIR draft rolls to seek re-inclusion in final lists through enumeration forms instead of Form 6. Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh) has proposed replacing Aadhaar with Voter ID (EPIC) and biometric verification for identifying beneficiaries of government welfare schemes.
First, Aadhaar was made mandatory for welfare benefits. Now the government wants to replace it with Voter ID.
What happens to poor people whose names are deleted from voter lists during SIR?
Will they also lose their pensions, ration and other welfare benefits?
