Public Transport fares👀
In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, we have calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products which will be in force from 15th October 2026 to 14th November 2026.
Taking into account the weighted average cost of imported refined petroleum products in the period under review, the maximum allowed retail petroleum pump prices for Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene increase by KShs.12.93/litre, KShs.9.90/litre and KShs.28.49/litre respectively.

Basement parkings in Nairobi have more pillars than parking spaces.
We represent operators, we believe operators must be equipped with the right training in service quality, road safety and passenger care. Public transport needs consistent professional standards across the sector not every SACCO operating by its own rules.#PublicTransportFund

Its like saccos have not woken up to the fact that people no longer want the noise and do not care about the pimping on the matatus. People simply want to get home safely and travel in peace
Kenya is talking about public transport reform But every reform needs a sustainable financing framework to support the development and modernisation of public transport — from fleet renewal to technology and better service delivery?

🚌87 Days to Christmas.
🚧The rush will start. The pressure will build. Will your drivers be ready?
Data shows a spike in PSV-related fatalities during the festive season (December-January), driven by increased demand, driver fatigue, speeding, and compromised compliance.
This programme is part of our proactive measure ahead of the festive season.
By training operators and drivers sufficiently early, we are building safety capacity ahead of peak risk.

Good morning. Are you ready?
While many are waking up, public transport operators have been working since 3 a.m.
They move people to work, school, markets and businesses — helping keep the economy moving.

One of Nairobi's popular matatus was involved in an accident last night.
Monday is here. The rain is here.
Let’s make safety part of the journey.
To every driver, conductor, operator and road user: slow down, stay alert and look out for one another.
Safe journeys. Safe returns.

The proposed Fund would use a blended financing model: Government appropriations, dedicated transport levies/fees, fare-based contributions, commercial revenues, PPPs, development partner funding, carbon/climate finance and other ancillary revenues.
Diversifying beyond fares
Beyond the Fare: Financing Sustainable Public Transport.
Public transport cannot rely on fares alone. FPTS is advocating for a Public Transport Fund to support a sustainable and equitable transport system.

Public transport reform must be financially sustainable.
As we advance to proposed Responsible Operating Entity (ROE) framework, the key question remains:
Who bears the cost when fare revenue cannot sustain the required service standards?
Public transport reforms are an opportunity to build a system that works for everyone who keeps it moving.
Understanding these realities can help shape reforms that are practical and sustainable.
Reform works best when policy meets the realities of the road.
